Espinosa signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Monday which includes an invitation to spring training, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Espinosa will apparently get a chance to compete for the starting job at second base in camp, though given he couldn't hold a job with the Angels, Mariners or Rays in 2017, he seems like a long shot to crack the Yankees' Opening Day roster. The 30-year-old struggled mightily in 2017, hitting just .173/.245/.278 with a brutal 36.9 percent strikeout rate in 93 games split between three teams. Even if a strong spring earns him an Opening Day roster spot, it would be unwise to expect much of a turnaround from Espinosa in 2018. It's also unlikely that he would stick around once Gleyber Torres (elbow) is ultimately ready to takeover as the team's starting second baseman.

Espinosa was outrighted from the Rays' 40-man roster Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Espinosa was recently designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for the impending return of Xavier Cedeno (forearm) from the 60-day DL. He appeared in just eight games during his brief time with the Rays, hitting a middling .273/.333/.273 with a poor 46 percent strikeout rate.

Espinosa was signed by the Rays prior to Friday's game against the Cardinals, Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Espinosa will provide versatility among the infield for Tampa Bay as he figures to man a wide range of positions off the bench with his new club. The 30-year-old was recently released by the Mariners on Sunday, and Tampa Bay marks his third different major-league home this season after beginning 2017 with the Angels. During 85 games, Espinosa has slashed .164/.237/.279 with six home runs and 31 RBI this year.

Espinosa was released by the Mariners on Sunday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mariners picked up Espinosa last month after he was released but the Angels, but they decided to cut ties with him as well after he failed to hit over the Mendoza Line in his limited playing time. He now owns an abysmal .164/.237/.279 line through 85 games this season. Despite his embarrassing performance at the plate, he can still play a solid second base, so look for him to latch on elsewhere on a minor-league deal.

Espinosa went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in Sunday's 9-1 loss to the Royals in Game 2 of a doubleheader.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran infielder drove in the only run of the afternoon for the Mariners when he opened the scoring with his second-inning two-bagger. Espinosa's struggles at the plate made the trip with him to Seattle from Los Angeles, as he's gone just 2-for-11 in the five games he's seen action in. Furthermore, the 30-year-old's playing time projects to dwindle even further now that Yonder Alonso has arrived in town.

Espinosa went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Wednesday's 4-0 loss to the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Espinosa drew the proverbial short straw for his first start in a Seattle uniform with Chris Sale on the mound, but the slugger has been struggling throughout the season. The 30-year-old is now hitting just .067 in July and has struck out seven times in 15 at-bats during the month. However, Espinosa isn't slated to see much playing time in Seattle, with his opportunities likely to be almost exclusively limited to when Robinson Cano gets a day off.

Espinosa agreed to a major-league contract with the Mariners on Sunday, Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Just three days after being released by the Angels, the switch-hitting second baseman already has a new home (within the same division no less). This deal is an MLB agreement, so Espinosa would likely be in line to assume a reserve role once the pact is officially inked. Espinosa has a lot of pop in his bat for a second baseman, but his strikeout issues make him tough to trust, especially as a bench player.

Espinosa was released by the Angels on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels ended the Espinosa experiment last weekend, designating him for assignment, and the 30-year-old is now free to explore other opportunities. Espinosa was a net positive at second base, but his struggles at the plate during his time with Anaheim (.162/.237/.276) far overshadowed his contributions in the field. Look for him to latch on with another club on a minor-league deal.

The Angels designated Espinosa for assignment Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
With a .162/.237/.276 batting line over 254 plate appearances this season, Espinosa ranked among the worst-performing regulars in the league, and his nifty defensive work wasn't enough to make up for him empty offensive production. Espinosa's ability to play both middle-infield spots and occasionally hit for some pop could be enough to convince another team to take a flier on him via trade or waivers, but if the 30-year-old goes unclaimed, he'll likely stick in the Angels organization and report to Triple-A Salt Lake. Barring any further upgrades to the position leading up to the trade deadline, the Angels are set to go with a platoon at second base with Nick Franklin and Cliff Pennington.

Espinosa is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
For the fourth time in the past five games, Espinosa will find himself positioned on the bench. The veteran infielder is currently sporting a brutal .162 average on the season and will be replaced by Nick Franklin at the keystone.
