Descalso went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Sunday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Descalso took Caleb Ferguson deep in the ninth inning to record his 12th home run of the season. After a surprising start to the season, Descalso has slowed down considerably at the dish as this was just his third home run since June 27. Based on his recent performance and unsteady playing time, Descalso retains only limited value.

Descalso went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and two runs Sunday in the Diamondbacks' 4-3 triumph over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Descalso entered the lineup for the second time in the series with manager Torey Lovullo giving Nick Ahmed a breather on getaway day. The 31-year-old came through with another quality showing at the dish to establish a new single-season high in home runs (11) and prop his OPS up to .841, a 114-point uptick from his 2017 mark. Descalso should continue to receive a few starts per week either at second or third base, but he won't be in store for a full-time role unless one of Ahmed, Ketel Marte or Eduardo Escobar misses time due to injury.

Descalso went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored in Saturday's 9-4 win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Despite only starting eight of the Diamondbacks' past 14 games, Descalso has drawn a remarkable 14 walks during that span while striking out only three times. That extreme plate discipline has aided him to a .583 on-base percentage over that stretch, but it hasn't helped him nearly as much in traditional 5x5 formats. He's hitting a credible .318 since July 10, but has failed to record an RBI.

Descalso went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and two runs Sunday in the Diamondbacks' 6-1 win over the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Descalso made the most of his lone start in three-game series against his former team, reaching base three times to lift his on-base percentage to a robust .371. The 31-year-old quietly ranks third on the Diamondbacks in RBI (44), but he's only driven in two runs over his 16 appearances in July.

Descalso is not in the lineup against the Rockies on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Descalso will head to the bench with left-hander Kyle Freeland on the mound for Colorado. Look for the utility man to return to the lineup this weekend in Atlanta.

Descalso went 1-for-3 with a walk Wednesday in the Diamondbacks' 19-2 loss to the Rockies. He also pitched 2.2 innings in relief, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out two.
EDGE Analysis
After starter Shelby Miller (elbow) and long reliever T.J. McFarland (neck) departed with injuries, the Diamondbacks had few fresh bullpen arms on hand to cover the rest of the innings in the blowout victory. As a result, Descalso was summoned for his fifth career appearance as a pitcher, with he and catcher Alex Avila (two innings) becoming the first position-player teammates to toss multiple innings in the same game since July 1945. Descalso's results on the mound weren't pretty, but he and Avila at least spared the Diamondbacks from having to overwork their other relief options amid a blowout loss.

Descalso is out of the lineup Sunday against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Descalso was one of three Diamondbacks batters to produce three hits in Saturday's 20-5 victory, with the veteran finishing the evening 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs. The run total actually surpassed Descalso's output (two) from his previous 18 games combined, a stretch during which he recorded only six hits in 44 at-bats. He'll take a seat in the series finale with lefty Clayton Richard on the hill, but Descalso may continue to benefit from a handful of starts per week against right-handed pitching in the wake of his bounce-back effort Saturday.

Descalso hit a pinch-hit home run in his only at-bat in Wednesday's win over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
The solo blast provided a much needed insurance run to put Arizona up a pair, as they'd eventually give one back and hold on for the 2-1 win. The homer was his ninth of the year, already putting him just one shy of the career-best 10 he smacked last season. To go along with the increased power, Descalso is slashing .263/.360/.505 -- the latter two of which would represent career highs.

Descalso is not in the lineup against Pittsburgh on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Descalso will get a little breather after a couple rough showings from the plate recently, going a combined 1-for-12 with five strikeouts over the past three games. In his absence, Ketel Marte will start at second base and bat fifth in the order.

Descalso went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts Tuesday in the Diamondbacks' 5-4 loss to the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to this season, Descalso favored a disciplined, high-contact approach at the plate, which has historically allowed him to post quality on-base percentages but low averages and limited slugging production. The 31-year-old made a concerted effort to revamp his swing path during the offseason, and has reaped the benefits of the change with a .245 ISO, which is more than 80 points better from the career-best mark he posted in 2017. Of course, selling out for more power has its drawbacks, and that was evident Tuesday with Descalso going down swinging in each of his plate appearances. His 25.7 percent strikeout rate is also the highest its been in his career, but it's a trade off Descalso and fantasy owners alike will certainly accept with the 31-year-old well on his way to the best statistical season of his career.
