Otero has a 2.19 ERA and 0.89 WHIP over his last 12.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
In that same stretch, Otero has struck out 12 and walked only two, but has also given up a pair of home runs. Otero's season ERA is down to 3.38 while his WHIP has fallen to 1.23 after struggling through April. It's a nice recovery after the veteran righty allowed runs in four of his first seven appearances to start the season, but with the strength of the Indians' bullpen, Otero is unlikely to see more situations of fantasy value.

Otero has settled down after a rough start to 2017, allowing just one run over his last six innings while recording six strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander logged just two strikeouts through his first six appearances, but has since gotten on track. Otero has slowly chipped away at his ERA to bring it down to 3.48 through his first 10.1 innings of the campaign. Regardless, he's unlikely to provide much fantasy value considering he's rarely called upon in high-leverage moments.

Otero coughed up one run on three hits during an inning of relief Thursday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Otero has now given up multiple hits in three of his five appearances. The right-hander also surrendered a run in each of those same contests. His 6.23 ERA and 2.08 WHIP won't sit well with manager Terry Francona after Otero failed to show much of anything during spring training this year.

Otero appeared in back-to-back games over the weekend for the first time this spring, allowing one run on two hits with a walk and a strikeout in 1.2 innings combined.
EDGE Analysis
One of the final spring tests for relievers is pitching in consecutive games, and Otero completed his last hurdle Sunday against Arizona -- a game in which he allowed his first Cactus League run. The 32-year-old right-hander owns a 0.96 ERA and an identical WHIP through nine exhibition appearances (9.1 innings). After being rolled out slowly this spring, Otero looks ready to build off his strong 2016 campaign in which he posted a career-best 0.91 WHIP over 70.2 innings.

Otero pitched one inning and walked one in Monday's Cactus League game against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Following a disastrous 2015 with the A's (6.75 ERA over 46.2 innings), Otero's 1.53 ERA in 70.2 innings of work in last season made him a contender for AL Comeback Player of the Year. Discounting his nauseating 2015 campaign, Otero has been one of the better relievers since becoming a full-time big leaguer in 2013. The right-hander has managed to keep his ERA below 2.30 in three of his four seasons while limiting walks and preventing the deep fly. He'll serve in a late-inning role for the Tribe, but with Andrew Miller and Cody Allen behind him eating up holds and saves, the 32-year-old Otero doesn't offer much fantasy value.

Otero signed a one-year, $1.055 million deal with the Indians on Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Indians will bring back one of the key pieces of their World Series run in re-signing Otero. The veteran reliever notched a 1.53 ERA to go with a 0.91 WHIP during the regular season and he was almost as dominant in the postseason with a 2.70 ERA and 0.90 WHIP. While Cody Allen and Andrew Miller will remain the headliners of the Indians' bullpen, Otero should still be a viable middle relief option.

Otero has allowed two runs over 13.2 innings, with a 0.66 WHIP, during August.
EDGE Analysis
It's another great month for Otero as he continues to lead Indians pitchers, with a minimum of five innings, in ERA (1.31) and is behind only Andrew Miller in season-long WHIP (0.95). Batters only have a .545 OPS against him this year, too. With all that, Otero has just one hold and one save, sitting behind Miller and Cody Allen in the Indians' bullpen.

Otero has allowed two runs with 10 strikeouts over nine innings of work during July.
EDGE Analysis
In his first year with the Indians, Otero has a team-best 1.18 ERA and has seen his strikeout rate skyrocket to 8.53 per nine innings. He had 5.26 K/9 in his previous three seasons and continues to be a force in middle relief, but has had just two save chances this year.

Otero pitched one shutout inning and earned his second win of the season as the Indians beat the White Sox on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Sunday's contest saw Otero bring his ERA down to 0.98 for the 2016 campaign. Thus far, he's pitched in 25 games, allowing earned runs in just three. For the foreseeable future, Otero should remain a familiar site on the mound for brief stints, especially if a pitcher needs help getting out of a jam, as his strand rate is 90.3 percent.

Otero notched only the second save of his career Wednesday, working around a walk in a scoreless bottom of the 12th to finish off an 8-7 win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Otero doesn't even usually see hold chances for the Indians -- he has exactly zero this year -- but he's been surprisingly good out of the pen in his new digs after struggling to a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with Oakland last season. This was obviously a special occasion, so don't expect him to pick up any more saves in the foreseeable future.
