Stammen allowed four runs on four hits in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Mariners. He did not record an out.
EDGE Analysis
Stammen came on to pitch the top of the seventh with the game tied at 3-3. He allowed four singles and a hit-by-pitch without getting an out. He left the game with the Mariners leading 6-3 and was charged with one more run when Austin Nola extended Seattle's lead with a sacrifice fly. Luckily for the right-hander, the Padres let him off the hook by rallying for four seven runs in the bottom half of the inning. Stammen's ERA jumped to 7.90 on the campaign, although it's worth noting that 11 of the 12 earned runs he's allowed came in three bad outings.

Stammen (1-1) allowed an unearned run in one inning, taking the loss versus the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Stammen's throwing error allowed Austin Barnes to reach second base in the seventh inning. Reliever Tim Hill then allowed the inherited runner to score on an A.J. Pollock double, which was the decisive run Tuesday. Stammen has been inconsistent in 2020, allowing four runs (three earned) over 5.2 innings. The 36-year-old is likely to continue seeing work in the late innings for the Padres despite his recent struggles.

Stammen (1-0) earned the win in relief Friday against the Rockies. He pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.
EDGE Analysis
Stammen has registered three scoreless outings out of four appearances out of the bullpen this season, and this outing was a nice return to form for the 26-year-old after he blew the save Wednesday against the Giants. He should remain a prominent arm in the Padres bullpen moving forward.

Stammen has been playing catch every weekday and throwing bullpen sessions twice a week at Petco Park, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
He said he is trying to stay in the same arm shape as he was when spring training was suspended. Stammen, who is ticketed for a middle relief role if/when the season gets underway, had a 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 4:0 K:BB in five innings during Cactus League play.

Stammen signed a three-year, $12 million deal with the Padres on Saturday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The third season of the deal is a club option, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network. The 35-year-old returns to the place where he spent the last three seasons. He posted a 3.29 ERA in 82 innings for the Padres last season, saving a career-high four games. He could remain one of the main secondary options behind Kirby Yates in the ninth inning going forward, though his drop in strikeout rate from 27.8 percent in 2018 to 21.5 percent in 2019 suggests that he could be better suited for a middle-relief role.

Stammen (7-7) was charged with the loss against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday after surrendering two runs and a pair of walks across one inning.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander came into a scoreless game in the sixth inning to replace Chris Paddack and successfully finished out the frame. Unfortunately, the seventh inning didn't go so smoothly. Stammen hit a batter and walked two before getting the boot. Ketel Marte soon took advantage by socking a grand slam, charging a pair of runs and the loss to Stammen. The 35-year-old has 27 holds this season with a 3.59 ERA and 1.02 WHIP.

Stammen (7-6) tossed two scoreless innings, allowing just a single hit while striking out a pair to earn the win in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Stammen did a strong job of suppressing the Giants long enough for Josh Naylor to provide a go-ahead single in the eighth inning. Kirby Yates then converted the save to make a winner of Stammen. The 35-year-old owns a 3.41 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 71.1 innings this season, having recorded 27 holds as Yates' primary set-up man.

Stammen allowed one run on two hits, taking his seventh blown save of the year in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Stammen allowed a game-tying solo home run to Ronald Acuna in the seventh inning of Saturday's contest. Stammen's seven blown saves dubiously lead the majors in that category. He has a serviceable 3.94 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 48 innings this season, having accumulated four saves and 19 holds as a regular set-up man to closer Kirby Yates. Stammen had only blown nine saves in his previous nine seasons, with five of them coming last year.

Stammen (6-4) picked up the win Friday after holding the Dodgers scoreless with two hits and a strikeout over 1.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
With the score tied 2-2, Stammen came into the seventh inning to replace starter Eric Lauer. The 35-year-old successfully prevented the potent Dodger lineup from causing any damage as both of the hits he allowed were singles. A two-out home run by Hunter Renfroe in the eighth boosted the Padres ahead to win the game. The veteran setup man has been mostly solid for San Diego this year, compiling a 4.00 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 35:7 K:BB over 41 appearances.

Stammen struck out three in 1.1 perfect innings of relief to record his fourth save of the season in Wednesday's 10-5 win over the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
He entered the game with the bases loaded in the eighth inning after Cal Quantrill had walked in a run -- technically a save situation, with the tying run on deck despite the five-run cushion -- and Stammen fanned Dwight Smith to end the threat before breezing through the ninth. The veteran reliever now has a 4.46 ERA and 32:7 K:BB through 40.1 innings on the year, with five wins and 16 holds to go with his saves.
