Cowgill is in the lineup and batting ninth for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Cowgill is just 1-for-9 to start the season, but will get the start in place of Jose Ramirez. His fantasy value is minimal due to a lack of playing time and offensive production.

Cowgill will bat ninth and play right field in Wednesday's game against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Cowgill is hitless in five at-bats this season, but draws into the lineup over Jose Ramirez in the outfield while Marlon Byrd slides over to left field. Cowgill is coming off arguably his worst season last year, hitting .188 in 55 games with the Angels. Upon Michael Brantley's return, Cowgill will likely find at-bats extremely difficult to come by.

Cowgill is in the lineup for Monday's season opener against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Cowgill opens the season as the Indians' fourth outfielder, but he will make a start Opening Day with the Indians loading up on right-handed hitters against Red Sox star lefty David Price. Cowgill will man right field and hit ninth in Monday's batting order.

The Indians informed Cowgill on Monday that he will break camp with the big club.
EDGE Analysis
Cowgill hit just .143 (6-for-42) this spring, but with fellow outfielders Michael Brantley (shoulder), Lonnie Chisenhall (forearm) and Abraham Almonte (suspension) out or limited Opening Day, the Indians decided to keep him around. While Cowgill will be part of the Indians' roster to open the season, he did hit just .188 last season, so he may be the outfielder to go when a spot is needed.

Cowgill has struggled at the plate this spring, hitting just .132 (5-for-38) but his ability to handle all three outfield spots defensively may help him make the Opening Day roster, MLB.com reports. "It was hard, because he was struggling so much. But, what he does - the defensive player, the baserunner - the things he can do are there," manager Terry Francona said.
EDGE Analysis
Cowgill did have a pair of hits against Clayton Kershaw on Thursday and he may still make the Opening Day roster as the Indians figure to carry five outfielders to start the season but he may not have much of a role given the surprising spring of rookie Tyler Naquin.

Cowgill could benefit from Abraham Almonte's suspension, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cowgill has been in competition with Rajai Davis in left field, but now that Almonte is out for 80 games after being suspended for PED use, his path to playing time could be a little easier. Davis could potentially slide into Almonte's center field role, allowing Cowgill to take left field. However, once Michael Brantley returns from his shoulder injury in early May he will likely become a reserve. Cleveland's outfield situation is worth tracking throughout spring training.

Cowgill was traded to the Indians on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations.
EDGE Analysis
Cowgill logged 74 plate appearances in 2015 with the Angels, but posted his worst strikeout rate since 2011 (25.7 percent), while failing to provide much power. The 29-year-old will likely find himself competing for a reserve outfield role to begin the season.

Cowgill was reinstated from the DL on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels have a plethora of middling to subpar outfielders who will see time in left field and at DH over the final month of the season, and Cowgill fits comfortably into that group. With this in mind, it will be difficult to extract much value from him down the stretch.

Cowgill (sprained right wrist) has been shut down for the last week, the Associated Press reports. Manager Mike Scioscia said that Cowgill is still experiencing some irritation in his hand, so he'll remain in shutdown mode until the soreness dissipates. Cowgill was placed on the 60-day DL earlier this month, which will prevent him from returning to the Angels until late July.
