Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Cole Hamels (oblique) will begin his throwing program on Friday. The lefty will throw off flat ground as he works his way back from an oblique injury. Hamels had a strong first half and posted a 6-3 record with a 2.98 ERA. The Cubs will look at either Tyler Chatwood or Adbert Alzolay to replace Hamels. Alzolay should be the only option considered in NL-only or deeper mixed leagues if he gets the call.
