Heisey was not in the starting lineup Sunday but entered the game in the top of the 10th inning to play right field, going 2-for-3 with a walk-off solo shot in the bottom of the 16th, his second home run of the season.
EDGE Analysis
See if you can follow the improbable chain of events that led to Heisey's walk-off heroics. Bryce Harper pinch-hit for Michael Taylor in the ninth and tied the game with his own solo shot, but manager Dusty Baker has promised Harper the day off and so put Heisey in his place to begin the 10th. Because of that, however, the Nats ran out of position players, forcing Oliver Perez to hit for himself in the 15th, at which point Perez laid down a bunt with two outs and Danny Espinosa on second. Twins catcher John Ryan Murphy threw the ball over Joe Mauer's head at first base, Espinosa scored to tie the game at 5-5, and the stage was set for Heisey in the 16th. He's now hitting .250/.348/.550 in 20 at-bats to begin the season, and with Taylor struggling at the plate, Heisey could see an uptick in playing time in the short term, but if you pick him up don't expect anything more than a low batting average and occasional power.

Heisey is in the lineup and hitting leadoff against the Phillies on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Heisey hit his first home run of the season in a pinch-hit at-bat Saturday, and manager Dusty Baker decided to reward him with a start in center field Sunday. Heisey has had good success -- albeit in a small sample size -- in his career against Phillies starter Charlie Morton, going 3-for-7 with a home run, a walk, and two RBI.

Heisey will hit leadoff in Thursday's game against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Heisey has tallied just two at-bats this season, but he will get the start in left field Thursday in place of Jayson Werth, who will get the day off. Heisey has never faced Thursday's starter for the Braves, Julio Teheran.

Heisey was added to the Nationals' roster on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Heisey heated up late in camp, and beat out Matt den Dekker to claim the Nationals' fifth outfielder job. His playing time figures to be limited, but his ability to play all three outfield positions will help his cause.

Heisey signed a minor league deal with the Nationals on Saturday, ESPN's Jerrry Crasnick reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reunited with manager Dusty Baker, Heisey will compete to be the Nationals' fourth outfielder. He received just 72 plate appearances with the Dodgers last year, slashing .182/.347/.327 and hitting two home runs with zero steals.

Heisey will become a free agent after passing through waivers unclaimed, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Heisey limped through the 2015 season, recording a brutal .182/.347/.327 slash line and just two home runs in 55 at-bats, so it remains to be seen what kind of interest he might drum up during the offseason.

Heisey went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk in a 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Heisey hit his grand slam when the Dodgers were down 3-2, and it's nice to see with how badly he's been struggling. In 52 at-bats with Los Angeles, Heisey has just nine hits and he more than doubled his RBI total with the performance on Thursday. The lack of righty bats is the only reason Heisey is playing and it keeps him relevant in daily formats when southpaws oppose the Dodgers.

Heisey's contract was selected by the Dodgers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Heisey was expected to join the team earlier in the week, but that was delayed until now. He probably won't see a ton of playing time, but could see the occasional spot start in September.

Heisey was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, David Vassegh of 570 AM LA Sports reports. Given the crowded Dodgers outfield, it's not a big surprise that Heisey will return to the minors. The veteran outfielder went just 4-for-26 over 17 games with the Dodgers, and will now provide organizational depth at Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Heisey was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, and he's in the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rockies, AM 570's David Vassegh reports. According to Vassegh, Scott Van Slyke (undisclosed) is likely headed for the disabled list, creating a need for another outfielder on the roster. Heisey has a .234/.354/.574 slash line for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, and while he possesses a decent combination of power and speed, he doesn't figure to see regular at-bats.
