Justin Turner (illness) missed Saturday's contest with an upper respiratory issue, so the 38-year-old was called upon to start in his place, delivering his sixth home run of the season in the process. Turner is expected to return to the lineup Sunday, which would effectively push Utley back into a bench role.

It's no surprise Utley is sitting out with lefty Chris O'Grady on the hill for the Marlins, but the veteran infielder may no longer be in store for regular starts against right-handers either after he was on the bench for the first two games of the series. Given the Dodgers' wealth of first and second base options as well as Utley's .209 average since the beginning of June, it looks like the 38-year-old could be a DFA candidate in the second half.

Even with Justin Turner and Logan Forsythe back from their lengthy absences, Utley has been able to sustain semi-regular playing time, starting seven of the Dodgers' last 11 games (majority of starts coming at first base). He is batting just .200 with a home run over that stretch, limiting his fantasy value, but the 38-year-old could have use as a cheap daily fantasy option on days where he is penciled in the lineup.

While the star shortstop is expected to return as early as Thursday, Utley should be in line for at least one more start with the Dodgers playing on the road in an American League ballpark.
