The White Sox requested waivers on Leesman on Wednesday with the purpose of giving him his unconditional release, the Chicago Tribune reports. Leesman made a spot-start earlier this season for the big league team, but it looks like his tenure with the White Sox organization will end after seven minor league seasons and two major league starts. He could serve as organizational pitching depth elsewhere.

Leesman was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Saturday, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports. Leesman made one spot start this season, flailing to the tune of six runs on nine hits and one walk in 2.2 innings. A resident of Triple-A Charlotte otherwise, he'll be subject to waivers and likely land at the affiliate again, if he goes unclaimed.

White Sox optioned LHP Charlie Leesman to Triple-A Charlotte. Leesman was called up to start on Tuesday, allowing six run over 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Tigers. He was scheduled for another start on Sunday, so it's unclear how the Sox rotation will shake out. Leesman was optioned to make room for Gordon Beckham on the active roster.

Charlie Leesman was roughed up by the Tigers, earning the loss after allowing six runs in 2 2/3 innings on Tuesday. Leesman was called up to replace Chris Sale (elbow). The Tigers hit him hard, racking up five extra-base hits including a Miguel Cabrera home run. Overall, Leesman allowed nine hits and one walk and didn't issue a strikeout. If he stays on schedule, he'll get the Rays in his second start.

White Sox recalled LHP Charlie Leesman from Triple-A Charlotte. Lessman will replace the injured Chris Sale (flexor muscle strain) in the rotation and start Tuesday night against the Tigers. The 27-year-old had a 1.59 ERA across three starts in Triple-A this season, but he's not a fantasy option.

Charlie Leesman will be called up from Triple-A Charlotte to start on Tuesday against the Tigers. He's taking the rotation spot of the injured Chris Sale (elbow), as Andre Rienzo will be pushed back to Wednesday. Leesman, 27, struggled during his brief time with the White Sox last season but has put up a 1.59 ERA in his first three Triple-A starts. He can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

White Sox optioned LHP Charlie Leesman to Triple-A Charlotte; optioned OFs Jared Mitchell and Trayce Thompson to Double-A Birmingham. Leesman pitched well at Triple-A last year and will be around again this season to make spot starts as needed. Thompson batted just .229/.321/.383 last season in Double-A, but the White Sox weren't ready to give up on his tools and added him to the 40-man roster.

Charlie Leesman is likely to get a spot start soon. Leesman gave up seven runs without recording an out in a relief appearance Thursday, but it won't affect the decision to give him a spot start. "Everybody that plays has games that don't go well,'' White Sox manager Robin Ventura said of Leesman's outing on Thursday. Leesman's spot start will allow the Pale Hose to give Hector Santiago some extra rest.

Charlie Leesman was charged with seven earned runs without getting an out in relief Thursday against the Indians. Well, Robin Ventura sure did toughen the rookie up a bit by leaving him out there so long. Or something like that. Leesman is the first reliever to give up seven runs without recording an out since Hansel Izquierdo of the Marlins on June 24, 2002. Two starters have done it in the last five years: Jason Marquis in 2010 and Jeremy Hefner in 2012.

White Sox recalled LHP Charlie Leesman from Triple-A Charlotte. Leesman pitched well in a spot start for the Sox earlier this season and has also fared pretty well at Triple-A, posting a 3.87 ERA over 16 starts. He'll be used as a reliever for now but could be given a start or two down the stretch.
