Qualls (forearm) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Qualls has been dealing with forearm tightness over the past month and will open the season on the disabled list in order to continue his rehab. The 38-year-old will be eligible to return on April 12.

Qualls (forearm) will not be ready for the regular season, Nick Groke of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was initially hoping to return to game action prior to the conclusion of spring training, and although that isn't completely out of the question, he still won't be at a point where he'll be able to comfortably appear in regular season games. Qualls struggled significantly last season in his first year of a two-year contract, and he'll need to prove his worth once he's healthy if he wants to be used in anything beyond a middle relief role this season.

Qualls (forearm) is scheduled to throw a full bullpen session with the hope of appearing in a game before the end of March, Nick Groke of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever's status for Opening Day is still up in the air, but if he can progress through these steps in his recovery unscathed, he could return to Colorado's relief corps in time for the regular season. However, Qualls' fantasy impact is relatively minimal due to how far down the pecking order for saves he is, as well as how much he struggled during his first season with the Rockies (5.23 ERA, 1.59 WHIP).

Qualls (forearm) was able to throw off flat ground Monday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Opening Day less than two weeks away and Qualls having yet to receive clearance for mound work, it's looking increasing likely that he'll be forced to the DL to begin the season while he continues to recover from right forearm soreness. Qualls is far down the pecking order for closing duties and won't warrant interest even in most NL-only leagues after compiling a 5.23 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 22:9 K:BB ratio in 32.2 innings last season.

Qualls, who hasn't pitched since March 1 due to forearm tightness, expects to resume throwing Monday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever pitched in two Cactus League games earlier this spring, but he reportedly felt his forearm tighten up following the second outing. Regardless, it seems as if his status is improving with each day, but a timetable for his return to game action should come forth as he begins to ramp up his throwing again.

Qualls is completely healthy heading into spring training, although there's no guarantee that he'll stick on the major league roster out of spring training, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
New manager Bud Black attributes much of Qualls' 2016 struggles to injury woes, although the only thing really working in the veteran reliever's favor at this point is a wealth of major league service time. Now 38 years old, Qualls will need to prove that he can continue to get big league hitters out during spring training in order to maintain his role in Colorado's relief corps, especially now that veterans Greg Holland and Mike Dunn, as well as younger incumbents like Miguel Castro, Scott Oberg and Carlos Estevez all vying for major league innings.

Qualls (illness) was activated from the 15-day DL on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Qualls last pitched for the club on July 15. He sports just a 5.61 ERA on the season. Carlos Estevez was subsequently optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque. Qualls reportedly lost 16 points while he dealt with a stomach ailment, but he is feeling well again.

Qualls (illness) will commence a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, the Denver Post's Patrick Saunders reports.
EDGE Analysis
He apparently lost 16 pounds due to the stomach ailment, but is feeling fine now, and will work to return to the Rockies, perhaps as soon as late next week. The Rockies are now on their third closer of the season (Adam Ottavino), but Qualls should return to a middle relief role when healthy.

Qualls (illness) was placed on the 15-day DL on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The official diagnosis for Qualls is colitis, which is an inflammatory reaction in the colon. Scott Oberg was recalled in a corresponding move. With the DL stint backdated to July 16, Qualls will be eligible to return before the end of the month, but it's uncertain if he'll be ready by then.

Qualls is sporting a 5.64 ERA to go with only 10 strikeouts through 21.2 innings out of the bullpen this season.
EDGE Analysis
Qualls seems to be very hit or miss this season. In his last 14 appearances, 11 of them have been scoreless (although it usually came with a hit scattered somewhere in the appearance). However, when he does allow runs, they come in bunches. The three instances where he did give up runs, the right-hander gave up three runs in two of them and two runs in the other. Despite the measly strikeout rate, Qualls has shown some signs of being a solid reliever, but the terrible outings he mixes in every now and then are limiting his ability to garner a whole lot of high-leverage innings.
