Sabathia (3-2) was charged with the loss Sunday against the Red Sox after surrendering three runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out eight through six innings of work.
EDGE Analysis
The 38-year-old logged a quality start with a season-high eight strikeouts, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to get the job done. His biggest blemishes of the night came in the form of home runs to J.D. Martinez and Xander Bogaerts in the third inning. Otherwise, the left-hander produced a solid outing and did not issue any free passes. Sabathia now holds a 3.61 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 42:17 K:BB though nine starts. He'll look to bounce back against the Indians for a Saturday showdown.

The Yankees activated Sabathia (knee) from the 10-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
New York cleared a spot on the active roster for Sabathia by optioning reliever Nestor Cortes to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Saturday's 5-3 win. Since Sabathia missed the minimum amount of time with right knee inflammation, it's not expected that he'll face any restrictions with his pitch count in his return to action.

Manager Aaron Boone said Sabathia (knee) remains on track to start Sunday against the Red Sox, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sabathia completed a bullpen with no issues Thursday, clearing the way for the southpaw to return from the 10-day injured list and rejoin the starting rotation when first eligible Sunday. Prior to landing on the shelf with knee inflammation, Sabathia compiled a 3.48 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 34:17 K:BB in 41.1 innings (eight starts).

Sabathia (knee) expects to return from the injured list when first eligible Sunday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sabathia received a pair of injections Friday and has been playing catch. He'll throw a bullpen session Tuesday, at which point the Yankees could decide whether or not he'll be good to go Sunday.

The Yankees placed Sabathia on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sabathia was hopeful to miss only one turn through the rotation after being diagnosed with right knee inflammation following Wednesday's win over the Orioles, but the move to the IL ensures he'll be down for at least two starts. It's the second IL trip of the season for Sabathia, who didn't debut until April 13 while recovering from offseason knee and heart procedures. James Paxton's (knee) impending return will help alleviate the loss of Sabathia, but the Yankees will still require spot starters in the lefty's stead May 27 against the Padres and June 1 against the Red Sox.

Sabathia said after Wednesday's start against the Orioles he expects to miss his next start due to right knee inflammation, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sabathia will return to New York to get his knee drained and indicated he may receive a cortisone or synvisc injection to address the injury. Per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, it's the same right knee issue that's bothered Sabathia in the past. The 38-year-old underwent a clean-up procedure on the knee in October, but he's apparently been having some issues over his last few outings. Assuming he does in fact miss Monday's start against the Padres, a trip to the injured list wouldn't be surprising.

Sabathia (3-1) earned the win at Baltimore on Wednesday with five runs allowed (four earned) on six hits over five innings. He struck out seven and walked two.
EDGE Analysis
Sabathia worked through the first two frames without issue but gave up single runs during the third and fourth innings before serving up a pair of home runs during the fifth. The veteran lefty still secured the victory thanks to five homers from the Yankees offense. Sabathia has a 3.48 ERA and 1.26 WHIP through eight starts and should next take the mound Monday versus the Padres.

Sabathia allowed one run on six hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Sabathia's lone run surrendered came in the fourth inning on a solo homer, though he'd exit the contest in a tie ballgame. The 38-year-old southpaw has been impressive through eight games this season, holding his opponents to three or fewer runs in six of his seven starts. Sabathia owns a 2.97 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with a 27:15 K:BB through 36.1 innings.

Sabathia allowed two runs on three hits and four walks across five innings during Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Rays. He struck out two but did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Sabathia was removed after five frames despite throwing only 76 pitches, only to see the bullpen immediately give up two runs after his exit. The veteran left-hander has thrown five innings through each of his first six starts -- though he has yet to complete six frames -- and has allowed three runs or less in all but one outing. Sabathia lines up to face the Rays again next weekend at Yankee Stadium.

Sabathia (2-1) picked up the win against the Mariners on Monday giving up three earned runs on five hits over five innings, striking out five and walking three as the Yankees bagged a 7-3 victory.
EDGE Analysis
Sabathia wasn't particularly efficient, needing 99 pitches to make it through five innings and issuing three walks, but he did enough to pick up his second victory of the season on a day where he received a lot of early run support. The veteran is providing solid ratios through his five starts, as he's now got a 3.20 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP through 25.1 innings. He'll take on the Rays on the road in his next start on Saturday.
