The Yankees placed Sabathia on the 10-day injured list Sunday with right knee inflammation.
EDGE Analysis
Sabathia previously spent time on the IL in late May and early June with knee inflammation and required arthroscopic surgery on the knee in the offseason. The fact that he's been troubled by the knee on multiple occasions this season is somewhat concerning and may result in Sabathia missing more than the minimum 10 days. For what it's worth, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com suspects that Sabathia will receive a cortisone injection for the knee before the Yankees map out a target return date for the veteran lefty.

EDGE Analysis
Sabathia gave up one run on two hits through the first three innings, but he fell apart during the next two frames as Boston tallied four runs on seven hits. It's the second consecutive start the veteran lefty failed to finish five innings. Sabathia lines up to face the Red Sox again next weekend since the Yankees have scheduled off days Monday and Thursday.

Sabathia (5-5) yielded seven runs (six earned) on six hits and two walks over four innings Monday, striking out two batters and taking the loss to Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Sabathia just couldn't get into a groove Monday, allowing back-to-back solo homers to Jorge Polanco and Nelson Cruz in the first inning. He later allowed another pair of solo blasts in his fourth and final frame. His ERA jumped to 4.50 over 86 innings on the year as he looks for his first win of the month. Sabathia will get another tough test in Boston on Saturday.

Sabathia allowed three run on five hits and zero walks across six innings during Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Rays. He struck out six but did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Sabathia pitched well Tuesday but missed out on the win since the Yankees' offense didn't take the lead and bust things open until a six-run eighth inning. The veteran southpaw has delivered four straight quality starts and has a 3.24 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB in that stretch. Sabathia lines up to start Sunday versus the Rockies.

Sabathia allowed three runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts across seven innings in a no-decision against the Yankees on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
While he didn't capture his third straight win, Sabathia did post his third straight quality start. He's pitched fairly well since the beginning of June, but he did have a couple bad outings that have raised his ERA to 4.67 in his last six starts. Overall, he is 5-4 with a 4.03 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 71 strikeouts in 76 innings this season.

Sabathia won't make a start during the Yankees' two-game series with the Red Sox in London over the weekend, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Since Sabathia last pitched Monday, he would be available to start either contest on four or five days' rest, but the Yankees will instead have Masahiro Tanaka take the hill Saturday and treat Sunday as a bullpen game. The Yankees will likely have Chad Green serve as an opening pitcher for Sunday's contest, but Sabathia could be an option to follow him. Even if Sabathia is in fact deployed as a "primary pitcher" that day, he would be presumably be in store for a lighter workload than what he would normally receive while working in a traditional starting role. The Yankees could also choose to withhold Sabathia from the London series entirely and slot him back into the rotation for their first game back stateside, July 2 versus the Mets.

Sabathia (5-4) picked up the win Monday in a 10-8 victory over the Blue Jays, giving up two runs on six hits and two walks over six innings while striking out nine.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw did give up some hard contact but for the most part was in firm control, throwing 64 of 104 pitches for strikes en route to his fourth quality start of the year. Sabathia will take a 4.04 ERA and 66:26 K:BB through 69 innings into his next outing Sunday, across the ocean against the Red Sox in London.

EDGE Analysis

Sabathia (3-4) took the loss Friday as the Yankees were downed 10-2 by the White Sox. He coughed up six runs (five earned) on 10 hits and three walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw got tagged for four runs in the first inning, including a three-run blast by Eloy Jimenez, and things went downhill from there for the Yankees. Sabathia has been taken deep at least once in nine straight starts, and as a result he'll carry a 4.42 ERA and 50:21 K:BB through 57 innings into his next outing Wednesday, at home against the Rays.

Sabathia allowed four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and one walk across five innings while taking a loss against the Indians on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran left-hander looked strong through three innings, but he gave up a pair of runs in both of the next two frames. The last two runs he allowed came on a homer, which contributed to Sabathia's exit after five innings despite him throwing just 69 pitches. He is 3-3 with a 3.96 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 47 strikeouts in 52.1 innings this season. Sabathia will pitch again against the White Sox on the road Friday.
