Casey Janssen threw a scoreless inning of relief Friday in the Blue Jays' loss to the Padres. Janssen retired the side in order in the 11th inning and had two strikeouts. He registered his 11th save of the season Wednesday, but missed time earlier this week due to shoulder soreness.

Casey Janssen registered his 11th save of the season Wednesday in the Blue Jays' win over the Braves. Four pitchers worked to shut out the Braves, with Janssen closing the door in the ninth. His 11 saves are simply a product of opportunity, as the reliever has yet to blow a save on the year. Those opportunities, and his save total as a result, will likely even out as the season progresses.

Casey Janssen was unavailable on Tuesday against the Braves because of general shoulder soreness. Janssen told reporters that he was just "a little tender" and that he expects to fine later this week, but the right-hander has dealt with shoulder issues in the past so it's hard to be completely optimistic. Janssen, 31, has a cool 2.40 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 15/1 K/BB ratio in 15 innings this season and he's 10-for-10 in save chances.

Casey Janssen earned his ninth save in nine tries this season, pitching a perfect ninth inning to preserve a 6-4 win over the Rays on Tuesday. Janssen hasn't blown a save opportunity yet this season, having allowed just one run in 12 innings on the year. With Sergio Santos still sidelined due to a triceps strain, Janssen has little competition for the job and has given little reason to think he needs any. There was some concern over his right shoulder heading into the season, but those concerns have gone by the wayside with his hot start.

Casey Janssen admits that he's still not 100 percent recovered from shoulder surgery. "There are days when it just doesn't feel good," said Janssen. "You can't always play catch like you want to, or get loose as fast as you want to, but nothing that's going to set me back or re-injure [the shoulder]." Despite not feeling 100 percent, Janssen has converted all six of his save chances and has a 1.13 ERA and 11/0 K/BB over eight innings. Fantasy owners shouldn't be concerned that he feels a little soreness.

Casey Janssen pitched a perfect ninth inning to nail down his fifth save of the season in Thursday's 3-1 win over the White Sox. The right-hander needed just eight pitches to dispose of the White Sox' 2-3-4 hitters in a pain-free ninth. Janssen was slowed in spring training while coming back from shoulder surgery, but you wouldn't know it by the way he's pitched in the early going. He boasts a 1.50 ERA and 0.50 WHIP and has converted all five save chances.

Casey Janssen earned his third save of the season in Saturday night's victory against the Royals. Janssen allowed two hits and a run but was able to maintain Toronto's lead. The Jays closer has a 2.25 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 6/0 K/BB ratio in four innings this season.

Pitching on a second straight day, Casey Janssen turned in a scoreless ninth Thursday to earn his first save against the Indians. Janssen's availability tonight was still iffy as of game-time, as he hadn't worked on back-to-back days since undergoing shoulder surgery. He looked strong tonight, though, striking out two of the three batters he faced in a quick inning. He won't be available on Friday, so it's possible Darren Oliver or Steve Delabar will end up with a stray save.

The Blue Jays are considering not using Casey Janssen on back-to-back days early on in the season. Janssen seems to be fully over his offseason shoulder surgery, but the Jays could attempt to play it safe and use Sergio Santos in some save situations. "If I can, I'm going to do it," Janssen said of pitching on back-to-back days. "If they want to protect a little bit, it's understandable. It's a process. But I'm going to pitch every day that I can, and every day that they allow me to."

Casey Janssen struck out all three Phillies he faced in his inning Monday. Janssen has fanned five of six batters since debuting Friday. Barring a setback with his surgically repaired shoulder, he'll open the season as the Blue Jays' closer.
