Corporan (thumb) will be activated from the DL on Tuesday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Corporan will return from the DL as rosters expand Tuesday, and he'll be joined by Joey Gallo, Drew Stubbs, Luke Jackson, Ross Ohlendorf and Josh Hamilton, per the report. Corporan has not played since July 13 due to a bruised left thumb, and he figures to step in as the Rangers' third catcher behind Chris Gimenez and Bobby Wilson over the final month of the season.

Corporan (thumb) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco on Wednesday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Corporan resumed baseball activities nearly two weeks ago, and he'll now move on to the final stage in his recovery from a sprained left thumb. It's unclear how many rehab appearances he'll make, but considering he's missed more than a month and already suffered one setback, the team will likely ensure that he's 100 percent before activating him. Once activated, Corporan will mostly provide depth behind the plate and doesn't figure to be much of a fantasy factor over the final month of the season.

Corporan gets the start behind the plate and will bat ninth Monday against the Orioles. Corporan has seen just one start since June 20, despite having three hits in his last two starts. He's hitting for a .188/.252/.292 slash line this season and will replace Robinson Chirinos in the starting lineup.

Corporan went 1-for-4 with his first homer of the year Wednesday in a loss to the Angels. Corporan's been seeing semi-regular action behind the plate in the early going, so he's got a bit of value in AL-only formats, though there's not much upside here.

Corporan is getting the start at catcher Tuesday and batting eighth, the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant reports. Corporan's career splits are fairly similar against righties and lefties, so this just appears to be a regular day off for Robinson Chirinos. Look for Corporan to settle in as the backup, playing once or twice a week this season.

Corporan was traded to the Rangers on Wednesday, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. Corporan was designated for assignment by the Astros on Tuesday, and the team has decided to trade him rather than send him to the minors. The terms of the deal are unclear at this time, but Corporan will likely battle for the backup catching job with the Rangers in 2015.

Corporan was designated for assignment Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. The move comes in response to the signing of Colby Rasmus, as the Astros need to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. They'll have 10 days to determine what to do with Corporan, but the general sense is that they'll seek a trade.

Corporan agreed to a one-year, $975,000 contract with the Astros to avoid arbitration, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports. Corporan already faced a questionable path to playing time in 2015, before the Astros acquired Evan Gattis in a trade. While Gattis will presumably spend most of his time in the outfield, the added backstop depth further hurts Corporan's cause. The Astros also have Jason Castro and Hank Conger, making Corporan a candidate to be traded before the season.

Corporan has been experiencing swelling and bruising on his right thumb for the past two months, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports. Corporan first suffered the injury while attempting to block a ball with his bare hand in mid-June. He's been able to play through the ailment due to the fact that he's only asked to catch two or three times a week, but it sounds like he'll continue to receive treatment on the thumb over the rest of the season.

Corporan will hit sixth at start at catcher Wednesday against the Twins. Starter Jason Castro is getting a breather, so Corporan will assume the backstop duties for Wednesday's matinee. The career backup is hitting .239/.288/.388 with five home runs and 18 RBI in 44 games with the Astros this season.
