Posey (thumb) went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Monday's 7-2 win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Posey made his return to action Monday after missing some time on the 10-day injured list with a thumb contusion. He wasted no time getting going, lifting a two-run homer in his first at-bat of the evening to give the Giants an early lead. He later singled and scored in a four-run seventh inning. In his age-34 season, Posey's numbers this year have been eye-popping. He's slashing .330/.420/.558 with 13 homers, 30 RBI, 37 runs scored and a 31:45 BB:K over 238 plate appearances. His power surge has been a revelation, as he's slugging above .500 for the first time since 2012.

Manager Gabe Kapler said Posey (thumb) could be activated to start Monday's game against the Dodgers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The skipper added that Posey has made considerable progress with his recovery in the last few days. As a catcher, he'll need his left thumb to be mostly pain-free to play, but he appears no more than a couple days from being activated.

Posey (thumb) is currently eligible to be reinstated from the 10-day injured list but is still considered day-to-day, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Posey will remain on the IL for Friday's game against St. Louis, but it sounds like the backstop could be activated as soon as Saturday. The 35-year-old caught a bullpen Thursday, and now the club is just making sure that his thumb came out of the session without any issues. When he's able to return, Posey will resume a resurgent campaign in which he's slashed .328/.421/.547 with 12 homers across 233 plate appearances.

The Giants placed Posey (thumb) on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The catcher suffered a left thumb contusion Sunday and hasn't played since, so he'll be eligible for activation from the IL next Friday when the second half begins. Per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, the backstop's MRI revealed a bone bruise, and it remains unclear if he'll be forced to miss time after the break. Of course, he'll be unable to start the All-Star Game as a result of the injury. Curt Casali is starting Friday and figures to do the majority of the work behind the plate while Posey is sidelined, but Joey Bart may get called up to serve as Casali's backup. Logan Webb (shoulder) was reinstated from the IL in a corresponding move.

Posey (thumb) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
A left thumb contusion will keep the veteran catcher out of action for a second consecutive game and possibly longer. Per Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, manager Gabe Kapler said that Posey is still battling soreness in his thumb, but that they'll try to get him ready to possibly pinch hit Tuesday. Chadwick Tromp gets the start at catcher.

Posey (thumb) won't start Monday's game against the Cardinals, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Posey left Sunday's win over Arizona in the bottom of the sixth inning, and he was diagnosed with a left thumb contusion after his X-rays came back negative. Although the 34-year-old won't be in the lineup Monday, manager Gabe Kapler was encouraged by the catcher's diagnosis after the game and said that he could be available off the bench. Curt Casali will likely handle the duties behind the dish Monday, and Posey should be considered day-to-day.

Posey has been diagnosed with a left thumb contusion after leaving Sunday's game against Arizona, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old removed himself from Sunday's contest in the bottom of the sixth inning after he took a ball off his glove hand, but he underwent X-rays after his departure that revealed no structural damage. Curt Casali could start behind the plate if Posey is forced to miss additional time, but the All-Star backstop appears to have avoided a serious injury.
