Rondon (shoulder) will throw two innings for Triple-A Toledo on Saturday, MLive's Chris Iott reports. He has given up five earned runs in 5.2 innings so far with Toledo, but the fact that he will make another appearance at Triple-A suggests he may be close to being activated. Of course, his activation does not guarantee that he immediately joins the Tigers, but that is a possibility. Joakim Soria has a pretty firm hold on the closer role in Detroit.

Rondon (shoulder) will make an extended outing Tuesday with the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens and could be activated from the disabled list if he does not report discomfort, reports MLive.com. He's been firing his fastball from 96 to 99 mph in rehab starts and has pitched back-to-back days without discomfort. However, he may not be immediately recalled because there may not be room for him in the Tigers' bullpen. He has the ability to be an elite reliever in the majors, so it will be difficult for the team to keep him on assignment or in the minors. A decision should come Wednesday.

Rondon pitched a perfect eighth inning and earned the win in his second rehab appearance for Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, MLive.com reports. Rondon retired the side on just 10 pitches, twice reaching 98 miles per hour. The reliever did not report any discomfort following the outing, and manager Brad Ausmus was impressed. "He looked good," Ausmus said. "It's more indicative that his arm feels good than anything else. I'm not nearly as enamored with velocity as a lot of people are." Rondon will travel with Toledo on its upcoming 10-game road swing and is expected to pitch an inning Tuesday. After that, he's slated to make appearances Friday and Saturday with an extended outing scheduled for early next week. Given this news, it does not appear Rondon will return to the Tigers before the end of the month.

Rondon will make his next rehab appearance Sunday at Triple-A Toledo, Chris Iott of mlive.com reports. Rondon made his first rehab appearance Thursday and threw 22 pitches over two-thirds of an inning. He'll need to pitch on back-to-back days before rejoining the Tigers, but has a scheduled off day on Monday, which means he likely won't rejoin the Tigers until late next week.

Rondon (shoulder) will have to pitch back-to-back games during his rehab assignment before being activated, per manager Brad Ausmus, Anthony French of the Detroit Free Press reports. Rondon begins his assignment at Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, and he's scheduled to pitch Sunday, as well. Ausmus indicated that Rondon will not pitch Monday, so it appears as though he won't be able to return to the Tigers until later next week at the earliest.

Rondon (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. Now over 14 months removed from going under the knife for Tommy John surgery, Rondon appears to be reaching the home stretch of working his way back to the major league team. He's scheduled to pitch for the Triple-A squad both Thursday and Sunday, but he'll likely need at least a few more appearances after that before rejoining the big league bullpen.

Rondon (shoulder) was impressive in a 25-pitch session to live hitters Monday, MLB.com reports. "He looked really good," manager Brad Ausmus said. Rondon, 14 months removed from Tommy John surgery, threw all of his pitches Monday, but the team will wait to evaluate him until Tuesday morning. If he's not experiencing soreness, Ausmus said the team will decide whether to schedule another live pitching session or send Rondon on a Minor League rehab stint. Either way, Rondon appears to be making progress and a return to the big league roster should come within the next several weeks.

Rondon (shoulder) will begin to face hitters Monday, MLive.com's Chris Iott reports. Rondon is expected to throw 25 pitches during the session, one of several he'll likely need before embarking on a rehab assignment. The 24-year-old hasn't pitched in an affiliated game since September 2013.

Rondon (shoulder) could be nearing a rehab assignment, MLive's Chris Iott reports. He felt good following Friday's bullpen session and will likely throw a simulated game next week. We are still likely a month or so away from seeing him in game action, but everything seems to be progressing well.

Rondon (shoulder) threw 40 pitches from flat ground Friday, George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press reports. He experienced soreness while throwing to hitters last week but a recent MRI revealed no additional damage. Rondon will continue to rehab with the team this weekend and it does not sound like he will be activated in the very near future since he was only throwing from flat ground Friday.
