Barnes is in the lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Cubs as the starting center fielder, and will bat seventh.
EDGE Analysis
Barnes will face left-handed pitcher Jon Lester on Sunday, and will replace everyday center-fielder Charlie Blackmon (toe), who is currently on the disabled list.

Barnes is starting in center field and batting eighth in Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With left-hander Patrick Corbin on the bump for Arizona, everyday center fielder Charlie Blackmon is taking a seat on the bench, allowing Barnes to get his first start of the season. He hasn't historically been better against left-handed pitching, but the drop-off of Blackmon's numbers against lefties was enough to get Barnes into the lineup Wednesday.

Barnes made the Opening Day roster as a fifth outfielder.
EDGE Analysis
Barnes was in a competition with pitchers Jason Gurka and Scott Oberg for the final two roster spots, but the Rockies opted to go with an eight-man bullpen, giving Barnes a spot on the roster. That being said, the outfielder will be blocked to consistent playing time with the Rockies outfield very much set and Ryan Raburn projected to be the first outfielder off the bench. However, Barnes has more experience in center field than Raburn, which could help him see more playing time when the Rockies' regulars are resting.

Barnes is in the running for one of the final two roster spots, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Left-hander Jason Gurka and right-hander Scott Oberg are also competing for the final two spots. Barnes has had a decent spring, batting .294 with five extra-base hits in 21 spring games, but he continues to strike out like no other, as he's whiffed 17 times already. It seems like Barnes' fate will rest less on his performance, though, as it will likely be determined by whether the Rockies want to carry nine relievers while Jon Gray (abdomen) is out or if they feel alright with only carrying eight.

Barnes' 25-man roster spot is in jeopardy after the Rockies selected the contract of Ryan Raburn to be their fourth outfielder, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barnes seemed to be set as the Rockies fourth outfielder despite his continuing strikeout issues, but now that Ryan Raburn is in town to act as a right-handed alternative in the outfield, Barnes' spot is not so secure anymore. There is a chance that he could make the roster as a fifth outfielder if the Rockies opt to go with an eight-man bullpen on Opening Day, although that's not exactly reassuring considering how well both Miguel Castro and Scott Oberg (the two relievers competing for the eighth bullpen spot) are pitching this spring.

Barnes is 7-for-29 with an RBI, a run, and 13 strikeouts in 12 spring games.
EDGE Analysis
Continuing on from his previous seasons, Barnes is racking up the strikeouts during spring training. To compound his typical whiffing issues, he's only walked twice this spring and is 0-for-2 on stolen base attempts. Barnes is pretty well entrenched as the Rockies' fourth outfielder, but he'll need to cut down on the K's if he wants to garner decent playing time as a reserve.

Barnes avoided arbitration with the Rockies on Friday with a one-year deal, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The exact dollar figure is not yet known, but it doesn't figure to be high, given Barnes' .655 OPS and two home runs in 106 games and that this is his first go-around in arbitration.

Barnes (hamstring) is likely out for the season, according to manager Walt Weiss, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barnes had to exit Wednesday's contest after suffering a mild left hamstring strain, and it now appears it will cost him the remainder of the season. It doesn't sound as though it's too major of an issue though, so he should be able to have his usual offseason routine. With Charlie Blackmon nursing a neck injury, Corey Dickerson may be called upon more down the stretch.

Barnes (hamstring) is out of the lineup Thursday, the Denver Post's Patrick Saunders reports.
EDGE Analysis
He suffered the injury in Wednesday's game, so it is not surprising that he was not ready to get back out there in Thursday's day game. Charlie Blackmon (neck) is also dealing with an injury, so Corey Dickerson may need to slide to center field Thursday.

Barnes left Wednesday's game against the Pirates with a mild left hamstring strain.
EDGE Analysis
Barnes started Wednesday's game in center field and went 0-for-3 before exiting. He will have to heal up quickly in order to play Thursday with an early afternoon game on the schedule.
