Blake Beavan limited the Royals to one run in 6 2/3 innings Friday to win his third straight start since returning to the majors. Beavan struck out six and walked one. Odds are he'll start giving up homers again soon enough, but he's a decent play in AL-only leagues in another home start against the Blue Jays next week.

Mariners recalled RHP Blake Beavan from Triple-A Tacoma. Beavan is being called up to start Tuesday against the Royals. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 5.92 ERA in 12 starts at the major league level this year and can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Greg Johns of MLB.com expects Blake Beavan to be recalled to start for the Mariners on July 17. The Mariners need a fifth starter because Erasmo Ramirez (elbow) won't be ready for activation yet, and Beavan has pitched well since being demoted last month, posting a 3.19 ERA over five starts. He likely will only receive a start or two, as Ramirez should be ready sometime this month.

The Mariners are expected to option Blake Beavan to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. Beavan was smoked for six runs over two innings in his latest start on Sunday and has an ugly 5.92 ERA through 12 starts this year. Erasmo Ramirez is expected to start Thursday while Kevin Millwood (groin) will be pushed back to Beavan's spot on Saturday.

Blake Beavan was lousy again on Sunday, allowing six runs on five hits and two walks in just two innings of Seattle's 8-2 loss to the Dodgers. Beavan's now allowed at least five runs in three consecutive starts. He capped off a six-run second inning by serving up a grand slam to Andre Ethier. Through 62 1/3 innings, he's the owner of a 5.92 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 30/11 K/BB ratio. He's rapidly running out of time in Seattle's rotation.

Blake Beavan held the Rockies to two runs on seven hits in five innings of Sunday's 6-4 win. Beavan struck out seven and walked one in improving to 2-4. A nice day, though Beavan has now gone five straight outings without producing a quality start. The owner of a 4.46 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio through 42 1/3 innings, he's off the radar in mixed leagues.

Blake Beavan was lifted after allowing three runs in four innings Tuesday versus the Red Sox. Beavan was pitching on seven days' rest after leaving his last start with an elbow contusion. He'll face the Rockies in Colorado next time out, making him a poor play in AL-only leagues.

Mariners manager Eric Wedge said it's a "longshot" that Blake Beavan (elbow) will be ready to make his scheduled start Sunday. The good news is that he could be ready a day or two after that, and with an off day Thursday, the M's can just shuffle their rotation around without make a roster move. Kevin Millwood would be pushed up to Sunday, and Jason Vargas could go on regular rest Monday.

Blake Beavan's right elbow feels better, but his scheduled start on Sunday remains up in the air. Beavan had to leave Monday's start after three inning when he was drilled on the pitching elbow by a comebacker. He should throw a bullpen session in a couple days, and the Mariners will likely know then if he'll be ready for Sunday. If he's not, Hisashi Iwakuma, who pitched three innings in relief of Beavan Monday, would be an option to fill in.
