Butler is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Angels, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Butler has picked it up a little at the plate in June (.300/.341/.475) following two sub-.600 OPS months to kick off the campaign, it hasn't been enough to earn him regular at-bats. He's still batting just .197/.209/.303 this season against right-handed pitching.

EDGE Analysis
Saturday marks Butler's third consecutive day out of the lineup as the A's will use Stephen Vogt at DH against Tim Lincecum and the Angels. Butler has struggled against right-handed pitching this season, batting just .204 with a .552 OPS against righties on the season. He figures to rejoin the lineup the next time Oakland faces a left-hander.

Butler went 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
It's just the fifth multi-hit game of the season for Butler, but two of them have come in four June starts and he's now hitting .389 (7-for-18) on the month. It's not much, but given how little value he's produced so far in 2016, it's at least an encouraging sign.

EDGE Analysis
Butler will be on the bench for Friday's interleague game against Cincinnati. Although during the A's recent series against Milwaukee, Butler got two starts at first base, going 1-for-7 with one home run and three RBI. Yonder Alonso will man first base for Friday's game against Anthony DeSclafani and the Reds.

Butler homered and drove in three runs in a 1-for-4 game in a loss Tuesday against Milwaukee.
EDGE Analysis
Butler went without a home run in his first 29 games of 2016 but now has two in his past eight games. He also has two doubles in that stretch and is finally starting to show a little bit of power, but his batting line is still a brutal .241/.275/.391 and it's unlikely he'll be able to work his way into more consistent playing time. Unfortunately, this is more or less all we can expect from Butler these days -- he hit just .261/.323/.385 in 2014 and 2015 combined.

Butler went 1-for-1 with two RBI as a pinch hitter during Sunday's win against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Butler made the most of his pinch-hitting opportunity, plating two runs with a single to right field. He has five RBI over the past two games, and even though he's struggled over the course of the season, he might be ready to turn things around after a very productive weekend.

Butler went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, three RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 12-3 victory over the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old finally went yard in 2016 on what was his 71st at-bat of the season. He did it in definitive fashion as well, as the blast traveled 443 feet to dead center field off Tigers starter Matt Boyd. However, Butler had notably gone hitless in his previous 10 at-bats, and is still struggling considerably, particularly against right-handed pitching.
