Giants manager Bruce Bochy confirmed that Barry Zito will make his next turn in the rotation Sunday against the Reds. Sunday's starter was listed as TBA for a while, but it sounds like Zito will get one last chance. The veteran left-hander has allowed 14 runs over his last two starts, so it's very possible that Jonathan Sanchez (biceps) will replace him on the next turn through the rotation on August 5.

Barry Zito might not take his regular turn in the rotation Sunday. The Giants are currently listing Sunday's starter as TBA after Zito allowed 14 runs over his last two starts. Jonathan Sanchez isn't an option, as he just pitched for Triple-A Fresno Wednesday, but it's possible prospect Eric Surkamp could be promoted from Double-A. Surkamp has had a fantastic season, posting a 2.00 ERA with a 128/34 K/BB ratio over 108 innings.

Barry Zito was torched for six runs over seven innings by the Phillies on Tuesday. He struck out four, walked two and gave up six hits. Zito was done in primarily by the long ball, as five runs came via three homers. He was pitching on ten days rest after having his last start skipped because he was blasted for eight runs his last time out. Zito was 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA since coming off the DL prior to those two stinkers.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said skipping Barry Zito's next turn in the rotation has been discussed. Zito is currently penciled in to start Friday, but that could change if the Giants decide to move Matt Cain up. The left-hander really struggled his last time out, surrendering eight runs over 3 2/3 innings.

Barry Zito was torched for eight runs in 3 2/3 innings by the Padres on Saturday. Zito was 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA since coming off the DL, so it was quite a surprise to see him fall apart in Petco Park. He'll still be worth playing in NL-only leagues with a home start against the Brewers next on the schedule.

Barry Zito pitched eight innings of one-run ball to beat the Padres on Thursday. Zito struck out seven and allowed just four hits before making way for Brian Wilson, who closed out a 2-1 lead in the ninth. Zito is 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA since coming off the disabled list late last month. Jonathan Sanchez might not return with his rotation spot intact if this keeps up.

Barry Zito pitched around a rain delay to hold the Tigers scoreless for six innings on Saturday. Even though Zito was working on three days' rest tonight, the Giants let him stay in following a 2 1/2-hour delay in the third. But what's the risk? He only has another $55 million left on his contract. Hopefully, Zito will bounce back well from the irregular outing. He has a 3.81 ERA in his five starts this season.

Barry Zito will officially get the start Saturday against the Tigers. He'll make the start on three days' rest because of Tuesday's doubleheader, but said Friday that he believes he can throw more than 100 pitches. With Zito going Saturday, Ryan Vogelsong will start Sunday and Tim Lincecum will pitch Monday.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said he's likely to start Barry Zito on short rest Saturday against the Tigers. Zito and Ryan Vogelson pitched during Tuesday's doubleheader, and Bochy has decided to come back with Zito on short rest rather than call someone up from the minors. Vogelsong will get the ball on Sunday.

In his first start since being activated from the disabled list, Barry Zito pitched seven innings of two-run ball to defeat the Cubs on Tuesday night. The Giants swept the doubleheader and Zito earned his first win of the year. Zito, out since mid-April with a mid-foot sprain, looked terrific during his four rehab starts, posting a 2.20 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio over 28 2/3 innings, and continued to roll against the Cubs. He gave up just four hits and two walks, striking out three. Get him active in NL-only leagues if you haven't already.
