Andres Torres (gluteus) is on the travel list for Saturday's game. Torres was scratched from Thursday's lineup due to a tight right gluteus muscle, but it appears he's feeling much better. The 34-year-old batted just .221/.312/.330 with the Giants last season, but he'll get the first crack at the Mets' leadoff job this season.

According to CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman, a ''competing baseball executive'' grades Andres Torres as a fifth outfielder. The Mets are looking for insurance behind Torres, who is coming off a season that saw him hit just .221/.312/.330 with four home runs and 19 RBI. Remaining free agent options currently include Rick Ankiel, Kosuke Fukudome, Raul Ibanez and Johnny Damon, all of whom have been linked to New York this offseason.

The Mets and OF Andres Torres avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.675 million contract. Torres gets a nice little raise from the $2.2 million salary that he earned in 2011 while posting a weak .221/.312/.330 slash line. He also had four home runs, 19 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 398 plate appearances.

Andres Torres (right leg contusion) went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in his first game off the DL Sunday. Torres' legs looked just fine as he singled and swiped a a key base in the bottom of the 10th inning. But with just three homers, a .228 average and 15 steals on the season, fantasy owners shouldn't be overly excited.

Andres Torres (leg) is expected to be activated from the disabled list Sunday. Torres has hit well on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno, batting .275 with three homers and 10 RBI over nine games. More importantly, obviously, is that his leg is no longer an issue. He should get most of the time in center field going forward.

Giants placed OF Andres Torres on the 15-day disabled list with a lower right leg contusion. So, it's not Carlos Beltran (wrist) going on the DL as had been speculated when reports of Brandon Belt's call-up surfaced. Torres was injured when he fouled a ball off his shin in Friday's game. Cody Ross and Aaron Rowand should get most of the time in center field while Torres is out.
