Simmons went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, a walk and two runs scored in Sunday's 8-2 win over Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
Simmons came up to bat for the first time in the second inning and drove out a two-run homer to give the Twins an early 3-0 lead. He would draw a walk his next time up in the fourth and wound up scoring on a Nelson Cruz home run. The long ball by Simmons was his first since May 16 and third overall of the year. The 31-year-old shortstop is slashing .246/.318/.332 with 11 extra base hits, 16 RBI, 25 runs scored and a 19:38 BB:K over 221 plate appearances. SImmons' offensive production hasn't been up to par this year in comparison to past seasons. He notched double-digit steals from 2016-2019 but has yet to steal a base this year and is also striking out at a career-high rate of 17.2 percent. The Twins are struggling this year and unlikely to make the playoffs which means a proven veteran like Simmons could very well be on the trade block when the deadline rolls around July 30.

Simmons went 3-for-4 with a double in Sunday's 4-2 win over Texas.
EDGE Analysis
Entering Sunday, the shortstop was 0-for-11 across his last four games. Simmons fixed that with a three-hit effort, his second such performance of the year. The 31-year-old is slashing .253/.328/.331 with two home runs, 14 RBI, 18 runs scored and eight doubles across 201 plate appearances.

Simmons (ankle) will return to the lineup Saturday against the Rangers, batting eighth and playing shortstop.
EDGE Analysis
Simmons left Wednesday's game against the Mariners with a tight left ankle and didn't participate in Friday's contest, but the issue evidently wasn't a particularly serious one. He's back after just a one-game absence and will look to improve upon his poor .243/.300/.297 June slash line.

Simmons (ankle) is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Simmons exited Wednesday's game against Seattle with left ankle tightness. The issue is not thought to be severe at this point, but given the shortstop's long history of ankle injuries, it's hard to not be at least a little bit concerned from the Twins' standpoint. Jorge Polanco will shift to shortstop for the series opener, with further update on Simmons possibly coming later Friday.

Simmons (ankle) is playing shortstop and batting eighth Saturday against the Royals, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ankle soreness had sidelined Simmons for three consecutive games. Having hit .321 in his last eight games, he figures to provide a nice spark once again at the bottom of the Twins' order.

Simmons (ankle) remains out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
It will mark the third straight game that Simmons is out of the lineup with ankle soreness. It's unclear if Simmons could be available off the bench Friday, but Jorge Polanco will slide over to shortstop once again to start the tilt.
