Sanchez has announced his retirement from baseball via his Instagram page.

Sanchez finishes his 16-year MLB career with a career record of 116-119 with a 4.06 ERA while spending time with the Marlins, Tigers, Nationals and Atlanta. The right-hander finished fourth in Cy Young voting in 2013, when he registered a 2.57 ERA and 202:54 K:BB over 182 innings while helping Detroit reach the ALCS.

Sanchez (4-6) earned the win Saturday, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks over five innings in a 13-4 victory over the Phillies. He struck out six.

EDGE Analysis

Sanchez gave up a leadoff triple to Kyle Schwarber to begin the first inning and the latter would come around to score after stealing home later in the inning. Sanchez then went on to retire nine of the next 11 batters he faced before J.T. Realmuto kicked off a three-run inning with a leadoff double in the fourth. Sanchez had gone eight straight starts without allowing more than three runs coming into Saturday and has now won four of his last five decisions.

Sanchez (3-6) earned the victory Sunday in Miami, striking out four in five shutout innings while allowing two hits and two walks.

EDGE Analysis

Sanchez was effective but not necessarily efficient in Sunday's ballgame as he needed 95 pitches to complete the five frames. Miami never really threatened and only one baserunner made it into scoring position. The 38-year-old has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last seven starts, dropping his season ERA from 7.20 to 4.06 and compiling a 1.31 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 20:16 K:BB in 34.1 innings in that span. His next and possibly final start of the season will likely be next weekend against Philadelphia.

Sanchez (2-6) yielded two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings, striking out three and taking a loss against the Marlins on Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

Sanchez allowed an RBI single to Bryan De La Cruz in the second inning followed by Garrett Cooper's solo shot in the sixth. The veteran righty has given up two or fewer runs in six straight outings, posting an impressive 1.53 ERA during that stretch. On the year, Sanchez is sporting a 4.40 ERA with a 38:28 K:BB through 12 starts. He's expected to take the mound in Miami next week.

Sanchez allowed one run on two hits and a walk over two innings against Philadelphia on Sunday. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.

EDGE Analysis

Sanchez threw just 24 of 46 pitches for strikes before his outing was ended by a lengthy rain delay. He's given up just three runs over his last 23.1 frames, lowering his season ERA to 4.56 through 11 starts. Sanchez had won his previous two starts and he hasn't taken a loss since Aug. 8.

Sanchez (2-5) allowed two hits and two walks over five shutout frames Monday, striking out three and picking up a win over St. Louis.

EDGE Analysis

Sanchez scattered a pair of walks and two singles during his scoreless start. After starting the year 0-5 with a 7.56 ERA through his first five starts, the veteran righty is 2-0 with a terrific 1.71 ERA over his last five outings. He's now sporting a 35:23 K:BB with a 4.56 ERA across 51.51 frames. Sanchez is lined up to start in Philadelphia this weekend.

Sanchez (1-5) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-1 victory over the A's, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out four.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran right-hander put together his best outing of the year as he lasted at least six innings for the first time in nine starts. Sanchez wasn't particularly sharp, tossing 57 of 95 pitches for strikes, but he kept Oakland's hitter off-balance and didn't give up an extra-base hit. Over his last four starts, Sanchez has put together a 2.11 ERA and 1.03 WHIP despite a mediocre 14:10 K:BB through 21.1 innings.

Sanchez didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Mariners, giving up two hits and two walks over 4.1 scoreless innings while striking out two.

EDGE Analysis

The 38-year-old needed 81 pitches (46 strikes) to record 13 outs, but he kept Seattle off the board while he was on the mound, even if he couldn't last long enough to qualify for his first win of the year. Sanchez has dropped his ERA from 7.56 to 5.72 over his last three starts, but his 28:18 K:BB through 39.1 innings on the season and his inability to provide much length put a firm ceiling on his fantasy value, even when he is pitching well.

Sanchez pitched five innings against San Diego on Thursday, allowing one run on one hit and two walks. He struck out four batters and did not factor in the decision.

EDGE Analysis

Sanchez registered easily his best start of the season, surrendering just one hit -- a fourth-inning Manny Machado solo homer. The right-hander still doesn't have a start this season in which he hasn't surrendered a long ball or given up fewer than two walks, but Sanchez didn't let those mistakes destroy him in this outing. It's been a rough campaign for the veteran -- he's still sporting an ugly 6.43 ERA -- but he's at least been able to chew up some innings, going five or more frames in six of his seven appearances. Sanchez's performance Thursday isn't likely to turn his season around (or lead to any fantasy appeal), but it ranks as a bright spot in what has been an otherwise forgettable 16th big-league campaign.

He served up multiple homers for the fourth time in six starts but also tied his best mark this season by giving up three runs. Sanchez has yet to pick up a victory, but he did avoid taking his sixth straight loss. The veteran simply hasn't pitched well in his 16th major-league campaign, posting a 7.20 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over six starts.
