Aceves signed a minor-league contract with the Giants earlier this week, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. The deal presumably includes an invitation to big-league spring training for Aceves, who split time between the Yankees and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last season. The right-hander's ability to swing between both starting and relief duties remains his most attractive attribute, as he certainly wouldn't warrant a look based on his numbers alone. He struggled mightily over his 19.1 innings with the Yankees in 2014, posting a 6.52 ERA while surrendering six homers.

Aceves (suspension) was reinstated from the restricted list and released from his contract with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports. Aceves completed a 50-game suspension for a second positive drug test, and with the Triple-A season almost over, the team decided it was in their best interest to part ways with the right-hander. He'll attempt to land another minor league contract with a spring training invite during the offseason.

Major League Baseball has suspended Alfredo Aceves for 50 games due to a positive test for a drug of abuse. The exact drug he was taking is unknown. Aceves has been at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since being designated for assignment by the Yankees on June 4. He had a rough 6.52 ERA in 19 1/3 innings this year for New York and probably won't return to the majors this year.

Yankees sent RHP Alfredo Aceves outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Aceves had been designated for assignment after putting up a 6.52 ERA in 19 1/3 innings of relief for the Bombers. He'll stick around as depth.

Yankees designated RHP Alfredo Aceves for assignment. Aceves was sporting a 6.52 ERA in 19 1/3 innings of relief this season for the Yankees. The 31-year-old right-hander hasn't been an effective pitcher since 2011 but may still draw some interest on the waiver wire.

Alfredo Aceves was used in relief Monday and gave up two runs in two-thirds of an inning against the Mets. Manager Joe Girardi said yesterday that Aceves would likely start Wednesday, but he backed off that before today's game saying he was still available in the pen. And, clearly, Girardi made no effort to avoid using him in relief, considering that he was the first guy in today after Hiroki Kuroda's six innings. It looks like the Yankees will call up someone to start Wednesday.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi on Sunday listed Alfredo Aceves as the most likely candidate to take CC Sabathia's (knee) spot in the rotation. Aceves has pitched well in relief since being promoted, allowing just one run over 7 1/3 innings. While his versatility is valuable, he's unlikely to be worthy of a roster spot in fantasy leagues.

Yankees recalled RHP Alfredo Aceves from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 31-year-old hurler returns to the place he broke into the league. He appeared in 59 games for the Yankees during the 2008-2010 seasons, posting a 3.21 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. He's expected to function in a long relief role.

Yankees signed RHP Alfredo Aceves to a minor league contract. Aceves exercised the opt-out clause in his minor league deal with the Orioles on Thursday. He'll be in the rotation at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and will have another chance to opt out if he's not called up by July 1. Aceves has enjoyed success in the past but holds a 5.21 ERA over the last two seasons in the majors and is known for his surly demeanor.

Orioles released RHP Alfredo Aceves. Aceves exercised his opt-out clause when he learned that he lost out to Evan Meek for the final spot in the Orioles' bullpen. He'll look to catch on elsewhere but is not guaranteed to land a major league deal.
