Rios (thumb) was scheduled to have his sutures removed and will be re-evaluated, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Rios could presumably be cleared to game action if his infection has healed.

Rios will miss at least a week due to an infection in his bruised thumb, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Ryan Rua and Michael Choice will see at-bats in the corner outfield spots as a result.

Rios went 0-for-3 with a walk Monday in a 4-3 loss to the Royals. Rios has been hampered by thumb and ankle injuries, leading to month where he slashed just .169/.188/.253, bringing his season average down from .300 to .279 since August 1.

Rios missed the last couple games with a sore thumb, but it appears he is feeling good enough to return to action Friday. Rios will man right field and bat third against Astros starter Brett Oberholtzer.

Rios seemed poised to return to action Thursday after manager Ron Washington said the outfielder would play through a badly-injured thumb, but upon further review, the team determined additional rest was the best course of action. With the Rangers having little to play for at this point and one year remaining on his contract, Rios could be subjected to more frequent days off in the season's final month.

Rangers manager Ron Washington said that Rios (thumb) will continue to play through his injury, the Associated Press reports. While the expectation is that Rios will be available, the Rangers' record and that he's under contract for 2015 could lead the club to take a very cautious approach with his playing time throughout September. Even if he collects regular starts as the primary right fielder, it remains to be seen if he can drive the ball effectively while playing with the ailment.

Rios (thumb) is out of the lineup Wednesday in Seattle, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports. On Wednesday, Rios is slated for an evaluation of his injured thumb, which cropped up a week ago. While he hasn't missed any time since Aug. 19, he's continued to produce at the plate, batting .227 (5-for-22) with four doubles, three RBI, and three runs scored over the last six games. In his stead, Jim Addduci is covering right field and batting fifth in the order.

Rios was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with a bruised right thumb, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports. This is the first word of any sort of thumb injury to Rios, but the issue has reportedly been lingering for several days now. Consider him day-to-day until the team provides additional information. Jim Adduci will occupy left field in his absence.
