Reyes was credited with his third hold in a win over the Brewers on Thursday despite allowing an earned run on two hits and a walk over one inning. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes needed 31 pitches to record his three outs, and he left closer Andrew Miller with a thorny two-on, one-out situation when he departed in the ninth. The run that Eric Sogard, the first hitter Miller faced, drove in with his single went on Reyes' ledger, only the second earned run to be charged to the right-hander in his last eight appearances. Despite occasional control issues, Reyes has been a mostly reliable option for manager Mike Shildt, posting a 2-1 record, 3.00 ERA and an elite 12.5 K/9 over 18 innings

Reyes was identified by manager Mike Shildt as a candidate to see save opportunities the rest of the season in the wake of Giovanny Gallegos' (groin) placement on the injured list, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Long on promise but often short on results the last three seasons primarily due to injuries, Reyes appears to be rediscovering the form that saw him wow with a 1.57 ERA and 10.2 K/9 across 46 innings back in his rookie 2016 campaign. The right-hander has proven an increasingly trustworthy bullpen asset for Shildt this season outside of a pair of hiccups, posting a 2.70 ERA and 11.5 K/9 over 10 appearances (one start). However, what could ultimately make Reyes a shaky ninth-inning choice is his trademark lack of control, which is evidenced this season by his 6.1 BB/9. Otherwise, the 26-year-old does have the ability to be dominant when he's on, considering he's averaging 97.8 mph on his fastball and sports a career-high 12.2 percent swinging-strike rate at the moment.

Reyes, who was charged with his first loss in an extra-innings defeat at the hands of the Indians on Saturday, has nevertheless allowed earned runs in only two of seven appearances and boasts a 29.7 percent strikeout rate across 8.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The promising right-hander's career has been a series of fits and starts due to injuries, but he's finally getting a chance to deliver a successful encore to an impressive 2016 rookie campaign and putting it to good use overall. Reyes did have a pair of hiccups against the Royals earlier in the week, but he's otherwise missed plenty of bats and also has one victory, which came in one of those uneven performances against Kansas City on Wednesday. Reyes' control, which has been an issue since his minor-league days, does continue to be a weakness; however, he can be dominant when he's honed in, with Saturday's two scoreless innings during which he allowed just one unearned run and recorded three strikeouts without issuing a walk serving as the latest example.

Reyes (1-0) was credited with the victory in a win over the Royals on Wednesday, allowing two earned runs on two hits and two walks over two innings. He also struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Tasked with preventing a 3-2 deficit from widening when he entered in the eighth, Reyes got into trouble during his second inning of work after recording a strikeout of Alex Gordon to start the frame. The right-hander subsequently allowed a two-run double to Whit Merrifield that widened the Royals' lead to 5-2. The Cardinals' wild four-run rally in the home half of the ninth ultimately garnered Reyes his first big-league win since 2016, albeit under highly unusual circumstances. The 25-year-old did suffer further damage to his ERA, which now sits at a bloated 5.68 across 6.1 innings over six appearances (one start).

Reyes allowed one unearned run on three walks while striking out two batters in one inning during a loss to the Cubs in the second game on Monday's doubleheader.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes couldn't find his command Monday, throwing just 10-of-24 pitches for strikes. Fortunately, he's still sporting a perfect 0.00 ERA in two appearances this season with five strikeouts. It's unclear if Reyes will remain a starter/opener or get more work out of the bullpen moving forward.

Reyes will start the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes was spotted warming up in the outfield prior to the nightcap, and the Cardinals confirmed him as the starter shortly after. He's appeared in just one game so far this season, fanning three in a scoreless inning Aug. 15 against the White Sox. It's unclear as to how deep Reyes can work in this one, with his last big-league start dating back to the 2018 season.

Reyes was recalled from the Cardinals' alternate training site in Springfield on Wednesday and should join the team for an afternoon workout, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes has already dealt with the coronavirus this summer, and he'll now be summoned to help shore up a roster that's been significantly depleted for the time being due to the COVID infections of multiple players. The right-hander has reportedly been flashing impressive velocity during his bullpen sessions and live batting practices in Springfield, and it remains to be seen how he'll be deployed with the big-league club.

Reyes' fastball sat at 95-99 mph during Wednesday's live batting practice at the Cardinals' alternate training site in Springfield, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is the latest report that supports the notion Reyes is on track for a potential call-up to the active roster in the near future. The right-hander's velocity Wednesday certainly seems to indicate he's worked off any potential rust stemming from a delayed arrival at summer camp earlier in July, and it remains to be seen how quickly the big-league club will opt to summon him.

Reyes (illness) is scheduled throw live batting practice Wednesday at the Cardinals' alternate training site in Springfield, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes and fellow hurler Genesis Cabrera have both been playing catch-up in Springfield after positive COVID-19 tests delayed their arrivals at summer camp. The right-hander was described as "progressing nicely" by manager Mike Shildt earlier in the week and has already thrown a pair of bullpen sessions that he's recovered well from. If the live BP session goes smoothly Wednesday, there's a chance, based on previous reports, that Reyes could be added to the big-league roster soon thereafter.

Reyes (illness) is getting good work in at the Cardinals' alternate training site in Springfield, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes and fellow hurler Genesis Cabrera are both working in Springfield after late arrivals in summer camp due to positive COVID-19 tests. Reyes threw a bullpen session late last week according to manager Mike Shildt and has recovered well from it, leaving him poised to throw another no later than Monday. The right-hander could get a relatively quick promotion to the big-league club due to his ability to work multiple innings, but he'll need to face hitters in live batting practice first.
