Avila is not in the lineup Sunday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Avila started Saturday's contest, but failed to record a hit. Only collecting three hits in the month has kept Avila on the bench a fair amount in September, though he does still have some power potential as evidenced by the fact that two of the knocks went for extra bases. Regardless, Jeff Mathis will take a turn behind the plate to replace him for the series finale in Houston.

Avila is out of the starting lineup against the Astros on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Avila will be withheld from the lineup for a second straight as Arizona faces another left-hander in Dallas Keuchel for the series opener in Houston. Jeff Mathis will set up behind the plate yet again.

Avila is not in the lineup versus the Rockies on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Avila went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk during Wednesday's loss and will receive a standard day off with a lefty (Kyle Freeland) on the hill for Colorado. In his absence, Jeff Mathis will catch Clay Buchholz and bat eighth.

Avila is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Rockies, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Avila will give way to Jeff Mathis behind the dish after starting the last two games, going hitless across five at-bats during those appearances. He's hitting just .161/.298/.294 with six homer through 75 games this season, so he doesn't figure to hold much fantasy value down the stretch even if he's serving as the team's primary backstop.

Avila is in the lineup for fifth time in the Diamondbacks' last eight games Monday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
The run of starts follows a stretch in which Avila sat for 10 of 14 contests. There's no guarantee he remains the starter for the rest of the month, especially as he's gone just 2-for-25 in his last 11 games, but he appears to be the one getting the call at least for the moment.

Avila went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks Friday in the Diamondbacks' 5-3 win over the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Avila has started in just seven of the Diamondbacks' last 19 games, with Jeff Mathis seemingly emerging as the preferred option behind the plate among the four backstops on the active roster. The 31-year-old Avila has been solid defensively, but that's about the only positive takeaway from his first season in the desert. Among all players with at least 200 plate appearances, Avila's .166 average and 39.2 percent strikeout rate rank him dead last in both categories.

Avila is out of the lineup for the fourth straight game Tuesday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
The Diamondbacks have gone without a true starting catcher for much of the year, and Avila certainly doesn't appear to be one now. He's been on the bench for four straight, with Jeff Mathis, who starts Tuesday, getting the call on three of those occasions.

After starting five of seven games behind the dish, Avila is now sitting for his third straight. Jeff Mathis will catch in his place.

Avila is not in Saturday's lineup against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Avila is slated for a second straight off day, although he was called upon to pinch hit Friday night. With Avila on the bench, John Ryan Murphy draws the start behind the dish and he'll bat eighth.

Avila is out of the lineup against the Padres on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Avila will retreat to the bench after starting the past two games, including a 1-for-3 showing with a walk and two RBI during Thursday's series-opening win. In his place, Jeff Mathis will catch Robbie Ray and bat eighth.
