Tigers placed RHP Al Alburquerque on the 7-day disabled list with a concussion. Alburquerque suffered the concussion in a freak accident Friday when he was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Orioles' infielder during batting practice. He'll need to be cleared by MLB before returning to game action. The hard-throwing right-hander has a 2.19 ERA and 57/27 K/BB ratio over 37 innings this season.

Al Alburquerque (head) was taken to a local hospital in Baltimore to undergo a CT scan. Alburquerque was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Orioles' infielder Robert Andino during batting practice. He was carted off the field, though Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun notes that he his showing some positive signs. Stay tuned for further updates about his status.

Al Alburquerque was struck with a line drive off the bat of Orioles' infielder Robert Andino during batting practice Friday. Scary stuff. It's not clear exactly where Alburquerque was hit, but he was writhing in pain on the ground in the outfield before being attended to by medical personnel. We'll pass along an update on his status as soon as it is made available.

Al Alburquerque (forearm) is available for Tuesday's game against the Rangers. Alburquerque hasn't pitched since July 24 due to inflammation in his forearm. The 25-year-old right-hander has an impressive 2.43 ERA and 53 strikeouts over 33 1/3 innings this season.

Al Alburquerque has been diagnosed with mild inflammation in his right forearm. The right-hander is listed as "day-to-day" and should be available out of the Tigers' bullpen at some point this weekend. Alburquerque, 25, has posted a 2.43 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 31 relief appearances this season.

Al Alburquerque is scheduled to be examined by Tigers' doctors Thursday after he was unavailable for Wednesday's series finale against the White Sox. Tigers' head athletic trainer Kevin Rand said Alburquerque was playing catch before Wednesday's game when he said he would be unavailable to pitch. The Tigers are confident that the issue isn't major, but it's still a troubling development because the 25-year-old right-hander just recently returned from a stint on the disabled list due to right forearm inflammation. Stay tuned.

An MRI on Al Alburquerque's right forearm and elbow revealed no structural damage. "We just need to give it the time it needs," Tiger trainer Kevin Rand said. "I'm confident we won't have an issue. We just want to get it quiet." Although it's not clear when exactly Albuquerque will return, manager Jim Leyland is confident it won't be long. "I think Alburquerque will be right back," Leyland said. "It's not an issue. We went on the cautious side."

Tigers placed RHP Al Alburquerque on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation. An unfortunate bit of news. Alburquerque has registered a sparkling 2.79 ERA and 47/22 K/BB ratio across 29 innings of relief this season for the Tigers and will be sorely missed at the back end of the Detroit 'pen.

Al Alburquerque won in relief for the second time in four games, tossing 1 1/3 innings of shutout ball Sunday against the Diamondbacks and running his scoreless streak to 14 innings in 13 appearances. Alburquerque has pitched well at the right times this season, racking up five wins against only one loss. The rookie reliever is quietly putting together a standout season with a 1.95 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. Even more impressively, opponents are hitting only .126 against him.
