Griffin (4-1) tossed 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while notching just one strikeout in Friday's win against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander failed to make it out of the sixth inning for the eighth straight start, but was still able to earn his first win since April 26. Griffin's lone K was the second time this season that he's struck out just one -- the first came in his opening start of 2016 on April 8 against the Angels. Friday, he threw 66 of his 98 pitches for strikes while allowing no more than three hits for the fourth time in his 13 starts this year. He'll face a tough task in his next start Thursday when he travels to Baltimore to face the daunting Orioles lineup.

Griffin threw five innings of one-run ball Sunday against the Royals, striking out three and walking two en route to a no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin had been rocked for 11 runs in 10 innings over his last two starts, but he kept the Royals in check Sunday, as he limited the baserunners against and was only scored upon via a solo homer in the fourth by Kendrys Morales. Sunday's results were better, but Griffin has still yet to throw more than five innings in any start since he returned from an extended absence due to a shoulder problem, and he will need to begin to go deeper into games if he is to remain in the rotation for a Rangers club that has already asked a lot of its bullpen. He is scheduled to take on this same Royals club at home Friday.

Griffin allowed five runs on four hits and three walks over five innings in a no-decision Monday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin still has yet to throw more than five innings in a start since his return to the rotation June 25. His ERA is up to 4.26 as he has allowed at least one home run in each of his five starts in that span. He also has walked 10 batters and hit two more in just 23.1 innings in that span, and allowing that many free baserunners would be a recipe for disaster even if he wasn't getting touched u for home runs with regularity.

Griffin (3-1) gave up six earned runs on nine hits and a walk over five innings in Sunday's 15-5 loss to the Twins. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old right-hander got through the first three frames unscathed before Kenny Vargas broke through against him in the fourth with a solo homer. A Joe Mauer single that plated Kurt Suzuki made it 2-0 in favor of the Twins, and then Max Kepler made Griffin for loading the bases by launching a 393-foot shot to right center with two out to bring home Eduardo Escobar, Mauer and Vargas. After winning three of his first four decisions in 2016, had five straight no-decisions until Sunday's loss, and the six earned runs he gave up against the Twins served as the most he'd allowed in any start. He's also given up a homer in four straight trips to the mound, and hasn't made it past the fifth inning since May 2 versus the Blue Jays. Griffin will look to right the ship following the All-Star break.

Griffin (3-0) did not factor in the decision against the Red Sox on Tuesday. He pitched four innings, allowing two runs, seven hits and three walks while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
In his third start since returning from the DL, Griffin once again struggled with his efficiency. He needed 96 pitches, the most since being activated, just to get through a season-low four innings (not including his injury-shortened start from May 7). He'll get the ball once more when he takes the hill Sunday against the Twins.

In his second start since returning from the DL, Griffin (shoulder) tossed five innings, allowing one run on two hits while walking two and striking out eight in a no-decision Thursday against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin's lone mistake, in an otherwise outstanding performance, was a fifth-inning solo homer given up to Didi Gregorius. His eight strikeouts were one short of the 28-year-old's season high set on May 2 against the Blue Jays. The righty has a sweet-looking 2.93 and 42:17 K:BB through 43 innings this season.

Griffin was officially activated from the DL to start Saturday's game against the Red Sox, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
As announced Friday, Griffin will come off the DL to return to the rotation Saturday night after completing a rehab assignment earlier in the week. Griffin, who has not pitched for the Rangers since May 7, is expected to remain in the regular rotation going forward.

Griffin (shoulder) will be activated from the disabled list to start Saturday's game against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
It was previously believed that Griffin would start the series opener Friday, but that will instead go to Nick Martinez. His last major league start came May 7 against the Tigers, but he'll look to continue the success he's enjoyed thus far, allowing three or fewer earned runs in each of his six starts this season. Given the current state of the Rangers' rotation, there is no reason to believe he won't take the ball every fifth game moving forward.

Griffin is expected to pick up a spot start Friday against the Red Sox, Ryan Posner of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Texas is in the midst of a prolonged stretch of games that has them with just one off day between June 2 and the All-Star break, as they'll be deploying Griffin for at least one start to give the rotation a break.

Griffin (shoulder) threw well in his first rehab start at Double-A Frisco on Friday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin is expected to need at least two more rehab starts in the minors before he's given consideration at the major-league level, though a spot in the rotation seems unlikely at this point.
