Griffin (ankle) has been confirmed as Thursday's starter against the Astros, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Stefan Stevenson reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was expected, but Stevenson confirms that Griffin will come off the DL and rejoin the rotation for the final game of the series against Houston. He has a 4.11 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB in 15.1 innings (three starts) this season, and should be able to serve as a solid back-end starter for the Rangers for as long as he can remain healthy.

Griffin (ankle) is expected to come off the 10-day disabled list and start Thursday's game against the Astros, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Rangers will delay the dilemma of potentially having to remove the high-performing Nick Martinez from a starting role by deploying a six-man rotation this week, allowing both Martinez and Griffin to take the hill for the final two games of the Astros series. Martinez has submitted a 2.77 ERA and 0.77 WHIP in his first two starts in place of the injured Griffin, so it may be imperative for Griffin to immediately impress in his return to the big club Thursday in order to permanently retain a starting job. Griffin's ankle seems to be in sound condition, but he was battered during his April 28 rehab outing with Triple-A Round Rock, covering 1.1 innings and yielding four runs on five hits (including two homers) and two walks.

Griffin (ankle) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Round Rock on Friday, and will not join the big-league rotation until next week, at the earliest.
EDGE Analysis
There was some thought that Griffin might just be able to make Friday's start against the Angels, but he will need at least one rehab outing. Nick Martinez will make the start Friday instead. If Griffin only needs one rehab start, he could return to the big-league rotation May 3 in Houston.

Griffin (ankle) is scheduled to throw a 15-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin, who landed on the disabled list due to gout in his left ankle, has seen his swelling subside in recent days and was able to complete a 27-pitch bullpen session Monday without incident. If Wednesday's session goes swimmingly, Griffin will likely be cleared to start Friday against the Angels, resulting in Nick Martinez being dropped from the rotation.

Griffin (ankle) indicated that his swelling has subsided and that he remains hopeful to start Friday's game against the Angels, the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin, who landed on the disabled list April 21 with the swollen left ankle, is first eligible to come off the DL on Friday, and it appears the Rangers are leaning toward clearing him for the start that day. Though the team has a scheduled off day Thursday, manager Jeff Banister indicated that he would prefer to have his other four starters benefit from the extra day of rest rather than moving them up. As such, if Griffin is unable to go Friday, it looks like the Rangers would turn to Nick Martinez to make another spot start after he held the Royals to one run over seven innings on April 22.

Griffin (ankle) performed long toss in the outfield Sunday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin was placed on the disabled list Friday with left ankle inflammation, but the fact that he's already doing some on-field activity is at least an encouraging sign. Nick Martinez entered the rotation in Griffin's place Saturday against the Royals and tossed seven innings of one-run ball, but Griffin could be ready to go the next time his turn in the rotation comes up April 28 against the Angels.

Griffin was placed on the 10-day DL on Friday with left ankle inflammation, retroactive to April 18.
EDGE Analysis
The inflammation was caused by gout in the ankle. It's uncertain who will fill in for Griffin on Saturday -- the Rangers are listing the starter as "TBA." Nick Martinez seems like a possibility to take that start as he last pitched for Triple-A Round Rock on Monday and he's already on the 40-man roster.

Griffin (2-0) allowed just one hit while walking one and striking out eight over six scoreless innings in Monday's 7-0 rout over the A's.
EDGE Analysis
The lone hit he allowed was a double to Stephen Vogt in the fourth inning. Griffin, a former Athletic, retired the final 14 hitters he faced and was one shy of his career high in strikeouts. After allowing seven combined runs in his first two starts, the right-hander delivered a gem in this one against his old mates. His 9.3 K/9 is likely to come down, but Griffin is an AL-only arm that can put up efforts like tonight in the right matchups.

Griffin (1-0) allowed three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four over six innings in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
After a rough 2017 debut, Griffin bounced back nicely with his first win and first quality start of the season. He threw 55 of 83 pitches for strikes, and while he gave up some hard contact -- all four of the Angels' hits off him went for extra bases -- the 29-year-old was able to avoid a truly big inning. He'll next take the mound Monday in Oakland.

Griffin sustained mild abrasions to his knees and right palm sliding on the warning track to back up a throw in the fourth inning of Friday's start against the Athletics, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Griffin had already allowed four runs on four hits, including a pair of home runs, so he wasn't long for Friday's game anyway. Expect Griffin to be fine and able to make his next start; the bigger concern isn't going to be some small scrapes but rather whether or not Griffin can keep the ball in the yard.
