Question on the correct way to score a WR who runs back a punt or kickoff, as Eddie Royal has done for Denver on MNF. Should the PLAYER get points for running back a punt or KO? Or should the DEF/SPECIAL TEAM get the points?
Our league somehow has both getting points. So if a guy had Eddie Royal as a WR and Denver as TM, he would get double points, whoch doesn't seem right.
How does your league score this?

It is no different than if you have a QB and WR from the same team. The QB throws a pass to the WR and they both score the points for it.
It is the correct way to have scoring set up. Why should you penalize a WR who plays on special teams. If he scores a TD it should be counted toward his totals. In our league we have it set up that the individual player gets the return yards as well...1 pt for every 25 return yards. As far as double dipping...that is where strategy comes in. It is no different than having Manning & Wayne on your team...you get the yardage, points & tds twice...I know a lot of guys don't like having 2 players from the same team...but I have always like the QB-WR combo..it has been very successful for me!
I still don't think 1 play should be counted to BOTH an individual player AND to a Special Team/Defense. That's double dipping. If a WR plays on Special teams, he's part of that TM, and shouldn't get individual stats/points.
If he plays WR and catches a pass, then he should get pts for that.
IDP are Independent Defensive Players as in you select 2-3 DL LB and DB and score points for indivdual accomplishments like INT or Tackles. Its a simple way to get rid of the team D concept.

IDPs don't let this happen JH, but it right as the player is a WR for OFFENSE and plays on SPECIAL TEAMS thus giving both points!!!
Sorry for the bad news!!
