That’s unfortunate. Makes him go from valuable to a waiver player in our scoring. LB’s that depend more on tackles just do better.

The Chargers have said that he'll be playing as a hybrid DT and LB as well as DE.

They do have him listed as a DE, however, so shouldn't we do the same.

I’m biased due to ownership in my very serious dynasty league but I strongly agree and given my bias would like to explain why in an unbiased way...

I understand there’s been some talk about his role but we’re so far away from meaningful snaps and nothing is set in stone. I think if anything we’ve jumped the gun on the change in designation. At this point I think it’s more speculation. Plenty of time between now and week 1. Dropping some news on his flea profile that the change is possible would devalue him and that’s fine. Hype and bad news changes player values all year long. Flea’s designation as a LB may very well be right in the long run, but it’s highly debatable right now.

My league operates 365 days a year, timing of changes to rules etc is huge. Things need to be undeniable when it comes to position changes imho.

I had Mark Barron years ago and I was completely fine with the change from S to LB’er.(LB’ers get more points so I had an advantage being able to play one at my DB position). In fact I felt like I was abusing the system a little cause that change was almost late in my eyes. 🤫

I will stay firm where I stand for the moment. It’s too soon.

Flea takes their position designations from a 3rd party.

You could also always switch your leagues to the EDR/IL designation.. which does not devalue DEs that traditionally would lineup with their hand in the dirt. (Ie Khali Mack, Von Miller, Chandler Jones, TJ Watt etc...)

Some traditional type DEs who play very few downs in coverage can sometimes be labeled as LBs (depending on the scheme they are in)

Switching to EDR/IL basically curbs this positional headache.

I’m not the kind of Commish that looks for rule changes when they benefit him. I could table it but I’d feel the need to shower after. Just the way I am and one of the reasons our league kicks ass. 😉

Hey so this is really stupid, I’ll say it haha, quit pushing your new IDP system. The fact that Bosa is listed as a DE by the NFL itself should be enough to keep him as a DE, or so you would think.

Changing Bosa to a LB in a keeper league with position max/min is extremely frustrating. Chargers call him a DE, so should Flea

i think you should complain to your commish. he should have the EDR designation and score it as they would a DE.

i applaud fleaflicker for this designation. the problem is commishes who keep edge rushers as LBers.

in a league where EDR has been applied and used from last season, i now have Leonard Floyd listed as a LBer, where he had the designation of EDR last season, making him worthless as a starter.

Assume this is due to your 3rd party stats provider making changes, but it would be good to have some consistency if possible guys!

Yep especially in deep roster dynasty leagues that operate all year round. These changes play havoc with player valuations and therefore trade values let alone compiling of rosters. These changes have currently completely messed up my EDGE and IL starting positions in some leagues, and it creates a lack of confidence in the system as who knows when it will be changed next!!

I’m gonna drop Bosa before our draft to get an 11th round pick. That’s what his value is as a LB’er.

There is literally nowhere else on the internet you can find Bosa listed as a linebacker.

No real reply from the powers that be (“I think” just doesn’t cut it). Think it’s time to move this league. That’s how annoyed I am.

Same list of players I listed 4 posts above. They've switched multiple times over the past few days. Whatever it is on your player data import feed needs to be checked for these position designations

Ironically, Joey Bosa's now a DE / EDR again.

Positions should not fluctuate like this -- definitely a bug either with us or our data provider. We're looking into this now.

Thanks, appreciate you looking into it. It's not such a massive issue in the offseason, although as stated above, startup/rookie drafts are well underway, and it can affect player values quite a lot.

Hopefully you can fix and stabilise it before the season.

Jason Pierre Paul was also switched to LB. He is an OLB/DE. Should be EDR in leagues with that setting.

Well I’m glad I waited and the fantasy gods came through in the 11th hour. My draft is in 4 hours and I was going to cut Bosa for a 10th round pick.

That’s why you don’t mess with this stuff till these guys are at least taking meaningful snaps.
