Once you remove yourself as the commissioner, your team will also be removed as well. There's no way of retaining it there directly, but there's a workaround.
What I'd suggest is for you to add a co-owner so you can then leave the league and come back as an ownerless team (create a new team when you have the co-owner in place sharing the team you want to retain with you and take the new team over). This may affect schedules and draft orders but you can at least retain the team.
Then have a co-owner that is in place either own the team or they can be removed and replaced by you or they can either drop out and be replaced by the new owner (you can send them an invite link or URL).
Hey FleaMod you are wrong, I have done it a few times, as a matter of fact I just did it to test the theory. In one of my leagues I stepped down as commish and made someone else commish and kept my team intact. Five minutes later we swapped back.
When you step down from commish a list of replacement teams comes up, your team won't be on it because it is not a replacement, but it is still in the league.
Thanks @CounterEMF, you're right (in most cases, with the only caveat being at the bottom) if that's what he is trying to do. I misread and didn't quite understand the original question clearly -- sorry about that (I thought the OP was trying to remove himself from the league entirely in one full swoop and then have someone take the vacated spot after the team was deleted).
Yes, @CouchCurmudgeon, @CounterEMF is right -- just go to League>Settings>Step Down As Commish and it will provide you a list of all the owners in your league that can take over the commissioner spot and it will still leave your team for someone else to take over. The caveat is if it's a redraft league, once he appoints a new commish, if the new commish deletes that team entirely with no owner, it will not be available for takeover as the same team.
Go here: fleaflicker.com -- select another commissioner and then they can remove you if they select Remove Owner/Delete Team while you own the team and it will keep the team active for some other owner to take over. It will remove the owner. Just ensure they don't select that button again when there is no owner (this deletes the team).
The commish of our league wants to step down but keep his team, he made me co-commish thinking I could make the changes and take over as commish, but I can't. Can you expedite the process? His message to meCouchCurmudgeon 4 days agoI can''t decommission myself , though I have tried. Still...there is the problem w/the co-commissioner cannot remove the commissioner, & the commissioner cannot step down
or delete owner / team because in both cases the commissioners team is not listed, only the other 11 teams. Right now no one
is able to remove the commissioner in the entire "Fair Catch" lge...including the commissioner ! So how do I get removed? Pls help !

You're all set as commish in that league.
