I've read through the help, browsed and read many topics on the help forum, and can't quite figure out if what I'm trying to do will work. I apologize in advance for the book, but this is for a start-up so I want to ensure I know exactly how the site will work before I advertise for owners.

Basics: 27-person roster, 5-round rookie/FA draft.

1.) I want to hold 2 drafts; the first one held as soon as the site opens up for 2015 in February and will be 28-rounds of just veterans, and then another one in July for rookies. I plan on selecting 10 players who I know won't be drafted and letting the league know they are an alias to a package of rookie picks (E.g. John Kuhn = x.01 package, Vonta Leach = x.02 package, etc). These alias picks will determine the rookie draft order in July. Can I as Commish delete these "alias" picks off everyone's roster and shrink the roster size down from 28 to 27? Do I have to edit the draft order round-by-round, or can I populate all rounds?

2.) After the February draft, I want free agency to be opened up and be available until the NFL draft on April 30th. I understand I do this by choosing "These are the complete rosters", and by doing so free agency will be available, but 2015 picks can't be traded on-site and I'd have to handle manually or on the message board. On April 30th, I want to lock free agency to prepare for the rookie / FA draft. I understand I do this by choosing "These are the complete rosters (but still draft)". Does this inherently lock free agency, or do I have to lock it elsewhere? Can I effectively lock it with "Lock free agents in preseason", or by setting the transaction limit to 0?. In July, I want to expand the rosters right before the draft from 27 to 32. Is this possible?

3.) If we're keeping the full rosters every year, is there any need for anybody to ever select keepers? On a 27-person roster, will there always show 27 rounds of draft picks to trade? Next year when the rookie / FA draft comes around, when I select "These are the complete rosters but still draft", will the additional 5 players drafted be added to the existing rosters, or replace the existing rosters? Will each team have to select all 27 players as keepers in order to hold a 5 round rookie / FA draft? In order to trade a 1st round pick for example, will somebody have to select a round 28 pick? The Owner's Manual isn't too clear on how precisely this is handled when a league rolls over to the new year.

Thanks in advance!

The service on the forums is excellent already, so I'm sure the rest will be a good experience.

Start-up year will be different, but let me throw out another scenario which might work easier.

12 months from now the 2015 season is over. I set no trade deadline and no drop/add deadline. Can trades and waivers continue indefinitely until I roll the league over to 2016? So if I want to allow the system to both allow drop/add AND handle 2016 picks, I could simply wait to roll over the season to 2016 until July?

I do want a trade deadline, but I can enforce that by rules and Commish review, not programmatically if it makes my life easier elsewhere.

Once the season ends, no waivers or free agents in the player pool can open until a draft is held or you tell the system there was a draft at League>Settings>Edit Rosters>These are the complete rosters (removing draft picks for that year). You can trade players that are already on rosters and draft picks though during the offseason before you roll over to the new year.

The system right now can't handle adds from the free agent pool when the season rolls over without having a draft for that year.

Just to clear something up, the trade deadline is no longer in effect once the fantasy season ends. You can make trades when the fantasy season ends in keeper leagues.

In my hypothetical scenario, from week 17 to 2/10/16 (start of new season), is the FA pool locked no matter what? Then on 2/11/16, I can select "These are the complete rosters", and the FA pool will open, but 2016 picks can no longer be traded? I think I'd read that was a limitation, you can't have both free agency before the rookie draft AND have the system handle current year pick trades.

Yes, the FA pool is locked from the end of the fantasy season to 2/10/15 this year no matter what.

On 2/10, you can select "These are the complete rosters" and the Free Agent pool will open but you won't be able to trade that year's picks anymore as you're telling the system you drafted to open the free agent pool (so 2015 for this year and 2016 for next in your hypothetical). You understand the behavior correctly.

Hopefully in future years we'll have a workaround for this to cater to power dynasty users like you. It's on our to-do agenda down the line.

Knowing the limitations is half the battle, everything it does handle is well worth the limits.

If I can make a suggestion, perhaps some of this can be incorporated into the Owner's Manual? Especially in regards to the off-season, blocked FA pool dates, and draft pick trade handling.

Obviously on a low priority basis.

1. You can populate all rounds and then just delete those placeholders from the initial draft at League>Edit Rosters

2. You have the correct behavior listed there in all areas. You can't lock it with lock free agents in the preseason. To expand rosters you can just go to League>Edit Roster Requirements>Custom and add to the total on the bottom where it says total using the edit icon.

3. Fleaflicker bases your future draft picks on your current keepers. If you keep the full rosters every year and have a 5-round draft, 22 keepers would need to be selected on all teams to show 5 future draft picks.

Can all teams have 0 keepers selected and everybody just knows to never trade a pick above round 5? Would that accomplish the same goal?

^ Yes, it would. This is how I run my dynasty league.

You'll find quickly, that this is the best fantasy sports website, and it's really not even close. The customer service is unrivaled.
