A scoring issue was just picked up on in my league as it effected the outcome of a game.

What happened was:

In the Baltimore Pittsburg game, Baltimore's Defense gave up 43 points. In our rules when a team gives up 28-34 they get -1 point, then -4 if they were to give up 35-41 points. Once a team defense gives up 42+ points it should receive -1 point for every 7 points allowed (-.14 per point over 41).

Once Baltimore gave up the 43 points the -1 point for every 7 points over 41 overrode the other previous two scoring rules.

At this time the league is still discussing what to do, but I have a couple questions. 1. any idea on how to fix the rule so it works appropriately? 2. if the league decides to change the scoring rule is their a way to retroactively make the change?

Thanks and Below are the scoring rules for pts allowed

-1 point for every 7 Points Allowed after reaching 41 total Points Allowed (-0.14 per) TM

10 extra points when total Points Allowed is less than or equal to 0 TM

7 extra points when total Points Allowed is between 1 and 6 (inclusive) TM

4 extra points when total Points Allowed is between 7 and 13 (inclusive) TM

1 extra point when total Points Allowed is between 14 and 20 (inclusive) TM

-1 extra point when total Points Allowed is between 28 and 34 (inclusive) TM

-4 extra points when total Points Allowed is between 35 and 41 (inclusive)

There's no way to retroactively apply it to reflect past games. You can calculate what they would have had and change the matchup at Edit Past Box Score and change the scoring that way.

It's up to you how you want to score it, but I would include an inclusive rule that is -7 extra points when total Points Allowed is between 42 and 99 (inclusive). If you want extra points taken away too, you can use a similar rule to what you have there like: -1 point for every 7 Points Allowed after reaching 41 total Points Allowed (-0.14 per) TM, You can create inclusive rules for every single point, but that could get tedious (for instance -10 points when total Points Allowed is between 50 and 5 (inclusive). Our best suggestion there would be to play around with the rules, go to the Player section and see what they would have retroactively scored, and choose as a league what rule you want to use.
