Good question. It's any player added during the current week (which starts on Tuesdays at 6 AM Eastern). These players cannot be dropped within 24 hours of their kickoff.
We do this so that owners don't gain an unfair advantage by adding and then dropping players they don't need just to prevent others from obtaining them.
at first, i did not understand this. owners in my league were adding players, then dropping them (non-maliciously). they simply made a mistake. however, the 'add-dropped' player could not just be 'added'. he had to be 'claimed'. however, i notice that the claim processed in 18hrs - before kickoff.
still, i'm wondering:
1. is there an option to force owners to keep an added player for 24hrs after adding them?
2. is there an option to make an 'added then immediately dropped' player a completely FA instead of a waiver claim?

I get that recently added players cannot be dropped within 48 hours of game time in my league. But how recent is recent?

1. Not directly -- it would have to be 24 hours before the game that week.
2. There's not with waivers on.
