Dodgers released C Miguel Olivo. The Dodgers aren't very pleased with Olivo, who took a bite out of teammate Alex Guerrero's ear in a dugout fight Tuesday afternoon at Triple-A Albuquerque. The 35-year-old catcher was batting .368/.407/.605 with four home runs and 20 RBI in 20 games this season at the Triple-A level but may struggle to find a new team. Guerrero needed plastic surgery and could be out for five weeks.

The Albuqeruque Isotopes placed Miguel Olivo on the suspended list following Tuesday's incident in which he bit off a portion of Alex Guerrero's ear. The length of the suspension isn't yet known. We figured Olivo would simply be released by the Dodgers, but it seems that will have to wait. According to Mark Saxon, the Dodgers have told their personnel not to comment on the incident.

Dodgers purchased the contract of C Miguel Olivo from Triple-A Albuquerque. Tim Federowicz was doing nothing offensively, so the Dodgers will go a different direction at catcher while they wait for A.J. Ellis to recover from knee surgery. Olivo, 35, had a surprising .390/.438/.661 batting line in 64 plate appearances this season for Albuquerque.
