Chad Durbin, 35, has announced his retirement. Durbin was released by the Phillies in late May after posting a 9.00 ERA over his first 16 relief appearances and then failed to latch on with a new team. He played for six different clubs during a 14-year major league career and will finish up with a 5.03 lifetime ERA.

Phillies released RHP Chad Durbin. It's not a surprise, given his 7.80 ERA and 2.00 WHIP in 15 appearances this season. Durbin was pretty good last year, though, and shouldn't have trouble catching on elsewhere. He just might have to settle for a minor league deal.

Chad Durbin sports a hideous 10.38 ERA in May. His season ERA of 8.10 ain't much better. Durbin sat at a decent 3.52 ERA on April 29. Since that time, he's been a human pinata, allowing 10 runs on 10 hits and four homers over just 3 2/3 innings. Durbin, 35, registered a solid 3.10 ERA in 61 innings last season for the Braves. Philadelphia may be wondering if they purchased a $1.1 million mole at this point.

Phillies signed RHP Chad Durbin to a one-year, $1.1 million contract with a club option for 2014. The deal carries $350,000 worth of performance-based incentives. Durbin, 35, registered a solid 3.10 ERA in 61 innings last season for the Braves and should do well this year in a middle relief role with the Phils.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that Chad Durbin is meeting with an unknown team in California on Saturday. Durbin led the Braves with 76 relief appearances last season while posting a 3.10 ERA and 49/28 K/BB ratio over 61 innings. The 35-year-old is expected to be seeking a one-year deal in free agency.

David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Braves are among the teams talking to free agent reliever Chad Durbin. Durbin led the Braves with 76 appearances this season while posting a 3.10 ERA and 49/28 K/BB ratio over 61 innings. He should get a nice raise from the $900,000 he made in 2012.

Braves signed RHP Chad Durbin to a one-year contract. Durbin failed to win a spot in the Nationals' bullpen this spring despite posting a 2.35 ERA and 15/3 K/BB ratio in 15 1/3 Grapefruit League innings. He'll presumably function as a middle reliever for Atlanta.

Chad Durbin left Nationals' camp Thursday because his wife is scheduled to give birth to their second child Friday. He is scheduled to rejoin the team Monday. Durbin has a 2.03 ERA and 11/3 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings this spring and is currently a candidate to make the Nats' bullpen.

Chad Durbin told Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post that he'll "shop around" if he doesn't make the Nationals' Opening Day roster. Durbin's minor league deal with the Nats includes an opt-out clause. There's a chance it could be rendered irrelevant, as he's making a pretty solid case to claim a bullpen spot. After tossing two shutout innings Wednesday against the Braves, the 34-year-old right-hander has a 2.38 ERA and 9/2 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings this spring.

Nationals signed RHP Chad Durbin to a minor league contract. After inking Brad Lidge last week, the Nationals now have another former member of the Phillies' bullpen. Durbin, 34, had an ugly 5.53 ERA and 59/26 K/BB ratio over 68 1/3 innings with the Indians last season, but should fare better in his return to the National League East. He'll try to win a bullpen spot during spring training.
