Cuddyer (back) is retiring from baseball, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rather than play out the final season of his two-year pact with New York, and possibly serving as more of a veteran presence than anything with Michael Conforto in left field, Cuddyer has decided to step away after 14 major-league seasons. Cuddyer played 117 games for the Mets in 2015, but battled a variety of injuries en route to a .259/.309/.391 slash line. The 36-year-old won a batting title in 2013 as a member of the Rockies and made two All-Star teams.

Cuddyer underwent surgery for a core muscle injury Thursday, Mike Vorkunov of NJ.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
There wasn't any indication during the season that Cuddyer was dealing with this issue, but everything appears to have gone smoothly with the surgery. He should be back in time for the start of spring training, though it's unclear what role he'll fill for the club next season.

Cuddyer is not in the lineup for Game 3 of the NLDS on Monday against the Dodgers, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Even with the left-handed Brett Anderson taking the hill for the Dodgers, Cuddyer will remain on the bench once again. Yoenis Cespedes will get the start in left field while Juan Lagares will take over in center.

Cuddyer is not in the lineup for Game 2 of the NLDS Saturday against the Dodgers, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.
EDGE Analysis
Cuddyer will be swapped out for Michael Conforto with the Mets taking on right-hander Zack Greinke on Saturday night. He could be back in action for the third game of the series with the Mets scheduled to face left-hander Brett Anderson.

Cuddyer is out of the lineup Sunday against the Nationals, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cuddyer had started the previous three games for the Mets, going without a hit in 11 at-bats. With Lucas Duda now healthy and Michael Conforto cementing himself as the Mets' top option in left field, a regular role doesn't appear to be in the offing for Cuddyer during the postseason, an unforeseen scenario after he inked a two-year, $21 million contract with the team last November.

Cuddyer (wrist) is back in the lineup Monday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Cuddyer will return after missing a few days with a minor wrist ailment. He'll make his third start of the season in right field and bat sixth against Miami starter Justin Nicolino.

Cuddyer (wrist) will return to the lineup Monday against the Marlins, Newsday's Marc Carig reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets will give Cuddyer a couple days off as they close out the series against the Braves, and he will then return for the start of the series against the Marlins. Look for Cuddyer to see a few starts per week down the stretch.

Cuddyer is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Terry Collins is hoping to get Cuddyer some at-bats in the near future, but it looks like he may not start again until the next time the Mets face a left-handed starter.

Cuddyer (wrist), who was potentially going to start Friday against Manny Banuelos, may not see a start in the Atlanta series due to Banuelos landing on the disabled list and the Mets only facing right-handed starters, ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Terry Collins hopes to get Cuddyer some at-bats against the Braves, so that he has a bit of action before possibly starting a game or two against the Marlins' lefty starters in the following series. That usage will depend on if Cuddyer is still bothered by the pain in his wrist, which had a cortisone shot Sunday.

Cuddyer (wrist) will sit again Wednesday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Cuddyer continues to sit, but it's likely a combination of both his wrist issue and the return of Lucas Duda. When healthy, it's unclear how often the Mets will use him over Duda moving forward, but it's possible a platoon will develop.
