Gee announced his retirement from baseball Monday via his personal Instagram account.
EDGE Analysis
Gee was reportedly pursuing opportunities to play overseas at the beginning of January, but he'll call it a career after evidently having a chance of heart. He last pitched in the big leagues in 2017 across stops with Minnesota and Texas, posting a 3.47 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 41 punchouts across 49.1 frames. Gee spent the first six seasons of his career with the Mets and will finish with a 4.09 ERA in 853.2 frames over eight years in the majors.

Gee signed a one-year deal with Japan's Chunichi Dragons on Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gee's contract will be between $1.5-to-2 million for this upcoming season, pending a physical. According to Rosenthal, Gee's plan is to re-establish himself as a starting pitcher, which he wasn't able to consistently demonstrate in 2017, and then return to the majors the following season. During 49.1 innings last year, the 31-year-old posted a 3.47 ERA and 1.40 WHIP while sporting a 41:15 K:BB during his time with the Twins and Rangers.

Gee won't make his next scheduled start Wednesday against the Rays and will move to the bullpen for the time being, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Paul Molitor decided he had seen enough from Gee in a starting role after the right-hander failed to escape the third inning in his most recent outing Friday against the Royals, conceding five runs on six hits and three walks. Gee will be replaced in the rotation by Aaron Slegers, who will be recalled from Triple-A Rochester in advance of Wednesday's contest.

Gee (1-2) was rocked for five runs on six hits and three walks with two strikeouts over just 2.2 innings as he took the loss Friday to the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
The Twins were getting some decent results out of Gee while their rotation deals with multiple injuries, but the other shoe finally dropped Friday night. Gee posted just one season with an ERA under 4.00 when he pitched for the Mets, and there was little reason to believe his improvement in 2017 through just 35.2 innings was real. This start alone pushed Gee's ERA up from 3.58 to 4.46. The Twins, however, may have little choice but to keep relying on him as a starter despite his inadequacy for the role.

Gee will now start Friday's game against the Blue Jays, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gee was initially expected to start Saturday, but he'll now get the ball for Friday's series opener as him and Kyle Gibson flip places in the rotation. He held his own in a recent spot start against the White Sox, allowing one run over six innings.

Gee will remain in the starting rotation for the time being and start Saturday's game against the Blue Jays, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Twins are currently hindered by a plethora of injuries to their starting pitchers, so they'll grant Gee another turn in the rotation. He allowed one run over six innings in his Monday start against the White Sox, but will receive a tougher test next time around as he's scheduled to square off against the Blue Jays in Toronto on Saturday.

Gee (1-0) allowed a single run on two hits while striking out four batters through six innings during Monday's win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
This was just the second start of the season for Gee (and his first with Minnesota), as he's mainly been used as a reliever this year. There's a chance that he sticks in the rotation for another turn, but expectations should remain in check since he hasn't been fully stretched out to pitch deep into games. He threw just 69 pitches Monday, after all.

Gee has been confirmed as one of the starters for Monday's doubleheader against the White Sox, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
It remains to be seen whether he will start the day game or the night game, but Gee will get the ball Monday, and could conceivably stick in the rotation after that start, as the Twins only have four starting pitchers locked in going forward. Tim Melville will start the other half of the doubleheader, so the fifth spot in the rotation could come down to which of those two impresses. Gee gave up four runs over 3.1 innings in his only other start this year and posted a 5.55 ERA in 14 starts in 2016, so he should be avoided for now in most formats.

Gee could join the rotation for Monday's doubleheader against the White Sox, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Paul Molitor told Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune that Gee was a candidate to move into the rotation this past weekend, and with a pair of doubleheaders and no scheduled off days on the horizon, the right-hander appears likely to be thrown into the ring for one of Monday's contests. Gee provided 3.1 innings during a spot start with the Rangers earlier this season, but has only made 22 starts since the 2014 season. With Adalberto Mejia (arm) and Dietrich Enns (shoulder) on the disabled list, it seems natural that Gee would toe the rubber against Chicago, although clarity to the situation should become present within the next couple days.

Gee did not give up a run in the final four innings of Tuesday's 11-4 win over the Brewers to earn a save. He's a candidate to move into the rotation Sunday against Detroit if Adalberto Mejia is sidelined by a arm injury, manager Paul Molitor told Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
EDGE Analysis
Gee isn't in the closer mix as he got a save for pitching the final three innings in a win. He had a 2.00 ERA and 20:3 K:BB in 27 innings (five starts) with Triple-A Rochester, which also bolsters his case to move into the rotation if there's an opening.
