The Orioles released Cabrera on Saturday, the Baltimore Sun's Dan Connolly reports. He was recently designated for assignment and Cabrera may have asked to be released in order to try to catch on with another team at the big league level. There's no denying Cabrera's stolen-base potential when he has an everyday job, but he has not hit enough to earn those at-bats over the past two seasons.

Cabrera was designated for assignment Friday. The Orioles made a number of roster moves Friday, and Cabrera will now be off the 40-man and subject to waivers. If he clears, he'll likely head to Triple-A, where he's appeared in six games this season, going 5-for-24 with an RBI.

Cabrera is not in the lineup Tuesday against Houston. Cabrera started the last two games - one at shortstop, the other at second base - but he'll take a seat Tuesday as the Orioles go with Steve Pearce at second and J.J. Hardy (back) at short.

Cabrera is out of the lineup Saturday. He was activated from the DL on Friday but has yet to get into the O's lineup. The fact that Baltimore is on the road against the Marlins may be playing into this as Jimmy Paredes is manning the keystone because he can't be started at DH in National League parks.

Cabrera was activated from the 15-day DL on Friday, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports. Cabrera was activated from the DL the first day he was eligible to return, but is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Marlins. The Orioles optioned Rey Navarro to Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move.

Cabrera (foot) should be activated from the disabled list Friday, MASN Sports reports. Cabrera made his first rehab appearance just eight days after he was placed on the DL, so he was always expected to be activated after the minimum time period. He is 5-for-21 with a double and seven strikeouts in five Triple-A games. Cabrera should immediately grab hold of the second base job until Ryan Flaherty is ready to return. Jonathan Schoop could supplant both players once he gets back from his injury after the All-Star break.

Cabrera (foot) will report to Triple-A Friday for the beginning of his rehab, MASN Sports reports. Cabrera cannot be activated until May 22, but he should be able to make that date with ease given that his rehab assignment is beginning so soon. Once healthy, Cabrera's role is uncertain, but he could slide over to second base to compete for playing time with Ryan Flaherty until Jonathan Schoop is healthy.

Cabrera (foot) could start his rehab assignment with Double-A Bowie on Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. Cabrera's MRI on his foot Friday came back clean, and he's expected to return when first eligible. However, his roster spot seems a bit uncertain following the return of J.J. Hardy from the disabled list. Cabrera may need to shift over to second base upon rejoining the club, but even that remains questionable with the various options available at the position.

An MRI on Cabrera's injured foot came back clean, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. With the MRI showing no structural damage to Cabrera's foot, the 28-year-old is expected to be ready to play on or shortly after his earliest possible activation date of May 22. It's uncertain where he'll fit in upon his return, however, as J.J. Hardy is now back at shortstop for Baltimore. Perhaps Cabrera will push for a role at second base, but he is batting just .205/.227/.229 so far this season.

Cabrera (foot) believes he will be ready to return once he is eligible to come off the 15-day DL, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports. Cabrera was placed on the disabled list Thursday in a coordinating move where the Orioles activated J.J Hardy off the DL. With Hardy as the everyday shortstop, Cabrera's fantasy relevance will be minimal once he returns.
