The Mets released Wright on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Wright had previously announced in September that 2018 would be his last season in the big leagues, so the Mets' decision to remove him from the roster was merely a procedural move. The 36-year-old will remain with the organization in advisory role to the front office and will still be paid the $27 million he's owed through the next two years.

Wright will make his first start since May 2016 Saturday against Miami, batting third and playing third base.
EDGE Analysis
Wright grounded out in a pinch-hit appearance Friday, his first big-league action in two and a half seasons. He's expected to receive a pair of plate appearances Saturday before leaving to a standing ovation in the final game of his career.

Wright (shoulder) was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Wright is back with the Mets ahead of their series opener against the Braves. It's the first time since June of 2016 that the veteran third baseman is on the team's active roster following a long road back from multiple injuries. He's set to pinch-hit during New York's three-game set against the Braves before making the final start of his career Saturday against the Marlins, according to Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record.

Chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon said Thursday Wright (shoulder) will finish the 2018 season on the active roster, officially joining the team Sept. 25 prior to a three-game series versus the Braves. Wright will start at third base against the Marlins on Sept. 29 and hang up his cleats following the conclusion of the 2018 season, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Following a long and rocky road back from multiple injuries and surgeries, Wright will receive a proper send off in front of the Mets' fans for the club's final homestand of the season. During the press conference, Wright repeatedly thanked his teammates, coaches and fans, stating, "It's truly been an honor to take the field with you and serve as your captain." When he's reinstated from the 60-day DL on Sept. 25, that will mark his first time back on the active roster since June 3, 2016. It's unclear if Wright will receive any playing time during the series against the Braves or in the opener versus Miami on Sept. 28, but he will at least take the field in the starting lineup in what could potentially be the final game in his career Sept. 29. Per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Wright admitted that "there's not going to be any improvement" regarding his physical condition and all but said he will retire at the end of the year. Over the course of his 15-year career, Wright has hit 242 home runs, recorded 970 RBI and played in 1,583 games for the Mets.

Wright (shoulder) will address the media Thursday at 1:45 p.m. EDT regarding his plans for the rest of the season.
EDGE Analysis
According to Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com, it's not believed that Wright will be making a retirement announcement Thursday and is expected to instead declare his intention to continue his playing career. Shoulder and back issues have prevented Wright from suiting up in the majors since 2016, but the 35-year-old seemed to be gearing up for a return to the big club during the season's final month after appearing in 13 minor-league rehab contests in August. Wright reported back to the Mets at the beginning of September and has been participating in simulated games, but the team has yet to reveal if it intends to activate the third baseman from the 60-day disabled list. The press conference should offer more insight into the matter, but even if Wright is added to the active roster, he'll likely only handle a part-time role over the next few weeks.

Wright (shoulder) is scheduled to meet with the Mets' brass either Wednesday or Thursday to discuss his plan for the remainder of the month, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright was able to take live batting practice Tuesday, though wet field conditions kept him from fielding groundballs. He's set to meet with owner Fred Wilpon in the coming days to determine the next step in his rehab. The veteran third baseman is still confident he can return this season.

Wright (shoulder) maintained that he expects to return before the end of the season following a simulated game Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright will participate in another simulated game Tuesday. It's unclear when the Mets intend for him to return, though the final homestand of the season, which begins Sept. 25, could be a target. His return will be largely symbolic, as he's been out for two and a half seasons.

Wright (shoulder) will participate in another workout Friday followed by a simulated game Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This likely rules out any shot Wright had of returning from the disabled list this weekend, though it marks another positive step in the right direction. Wright has been rehabbing with the big-league club for the past week but remains without a concrete timetable.

Wright (shoulder) will meet up with the Mets in San Francisco this weekend in order to continue his recovery with team trainers.
EDGE Analysis
According to assistant general manager John Ricco, Wright isn't all that close to being activated from the disabled list, but this is clearly another step in the right direction for the 35-year-old infielder. With rosters set to expand to 40 players this weekend, there's a chance Wright will be reinstated, even if he's not necessarily ready to enter into game action at the moment. Either way, don't expect him to hold much value for the rest of the 2018 campaign.

Wright (shoulder) is unlikely to be activated soon, Tim Britton of The Athletic New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
The fact that Wright hit just 6-for-32 while rehabbing with High-A St. Lucie suggests that he's not yet ready to return from his 27-month absence and face major-league pitching. His rehab assignment expires Friday, however, so the Mets will be forced to make a decision. He could remain in the minor-leagues on what would no longer be technically a rehab assignment or could head back to the disabled list to rehab with the Mets' major-league medical staff. Even if he does make it back to the big leagues before the end of the season, his odds of being a significant fantasy contributor are slim.
