Greinke allowed three earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out four across six innings Wednesday against the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke allowed an earned run in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings, though he still managed to turn in a baseline quality start. He has been extremely reliant upon soft contact to begin the season, as he has only six total strikeouts across 22 innings. While Greinke's fortunes could change quickly as a result, he's maintained a 2.86 ERA and has allowed two or fewer earned runs in three of his four appearances to this point in the campaign.

Greinke (0-1) took the loss after allowing one run on six hits across five innings during Thursday's 1-0 loss to the Twins. He struck one and walked one.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke scattered six hits and one walk thanks to three double-play ground balls. The veteran continues to pitch well, but he's registered just two strikeouts across 16 innings, which hinders his overall fantasy potential. The 38-year-old's next start is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 27.

Greinke allowed two runs on five hits and one walk in 5.1 innings, striking out none in a 4-2 loss Thursday against Detroit. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Other than allowing the first four batters to reach safely in the second inning, Greinke pitched well and induced two double-play ground balls. The 38-year-old has managed to allow only three runs despite having just one strikeout in 11 innings on the season. His next start will likely be next Wednesday against Minnesota.

Greinke and the Royals won't face the Cardinals on Wednesday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in St. Louis, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
The two teams will make up the interleague game May 2. As a result of Wednesday's postponement, the Royals will most likely push each of their five starters back a day in the schedule. Greinke is thus expected to make his next start Thursday versus the Tigers in Kansas City.

Greinke allowed one run on five hits across 5.2 innings but did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Guardians. He walked one and struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke signed a one-year, $13 million deal with Kansas City this offseason, returning to the team that drafted him in 2002. The veteran was solid in his first appearance of the season, but fantasy managers likely need more strikeout production from a player of Greinke's caliber. While plenty of pitchers around the league will be limited during the first weekend of the 2022 campaign, it appears like Greinke is stretched out and 100 percent to start the year, as he threw 84 pitches (56 strikes).

Manager Mike Matheny announced Wednesday that Greinke will start Opening Day against the Guardians on April 7, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Kansas City reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander inked a one-year, $13 million deal with Kansas City in mid-March, and the start on Opening Day will be his first time taking the mound for the organization since 2010. Greinke had a 4.16 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 120:36 K:BB over 171 innings with the Astros last season.

Greinke signed a one-year, $13 million contract with the Royals on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke began his major-league career with the Royals in 2005, and he'll return to the organization after spending two and a half years with the Astros. He made 30 appearances (29 starts) for Houston in 2021 and logged a 4.16 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 171 innings. The Royals traded Mike Minor to the Reds on Wednesday, and Greinke figures to fill a prominent role in the team's starting rotation.

Greinke threw four scoreless innings in Saturday's World Series Game 4 loss against Atlanta, striking out three while allowing four hits and no walks.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke wasn't fully stretched out after suffering a neck injury late in the year, but the 38-year-old gave the Astros all he had for four strong innings. He was never in any trouble, as Atlanta couldn't even get a runner to second base in his four frames, but he was pulled prior to the fifth inning having thrown just 58 pitches. While the veteran did his job, his teammates did not, as the Houston bullpen wound up blowing the game, leading to a 3-2 loss.

Greinke is expected to start Game 4 of the World Series in Atlanta on Saturday, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke has been a starter for the vast majority of his 18-year career, but he suffered a neck injury in late September and closed the year in the bullpen. He's made two appearances in the postseason, one of which was technically a start, but those outings lasted a combined 2.1 innings. It's unlikely he'll be able to pitch particularly deep in Game 4, as the last time he reached even three innings in an appearance came back on Sept. 19.

Greinke allowed two runs on a hit and a walk in 1.1 innings during Tuesday's win over the Red Sox in Game 4 of the ALCS. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke had gone a month between starts since he's worked out of the bullpen to begin the postseason, and he wasn't able to provide much length Tuesday. He threw just 18 of his 37 pitches for strikes, and his free passes helped to contribute to a two-run first inning for the Red Sox. Across the right-hander's first two appearances of the postseason, he's recorded a 7.71 ERA and 2.57 WHIP in 2.1 innings. He'll presumably be available out of the bullpen later in the ALCS.
