McAllister (hip) was placed on the 15-day DL on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
McAllister came out of Wednesday's game after one-third of an inning of relief, giving up three hits and four earned runs against the Tigers. This came on the heels of his lone start of the season July 2, where he only lasted one inning against Toronto after allowing three earned runs in the first. McAllister will be eligible to be activated a week after the All-Star break ends, and could end up missing just 10 contests.

McAllister didn't factor into the decision in his spot start against the Blue Jays on Saturday. He surrendered three runs on one hit -- a homer by Edwin Encarnacion-- and two walks over an inning, while striking out two.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever didn't last long in his spot start, which became necessary after previously scheduled starter Trevor Bauer had to work five innings in Friday's 19-inning marathon. McAllister labored through a 31-pitch first inning, essentially ending his afternoon. He's expected to return to the bullpen, where he'd generated a 3.20 ERA over 25.1 innings this season.

McAllister will get the start Saturday against Toronto, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports.
EDGE Analysis
McAllister normally pitches out of the bullpen for the Indians, but will get the nod due to the 19-inning extravaganza during Friday's win. He has appeared in 28 games this season, posting a 3.20 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP in 25.1 innings of work. McAllister started one game last season and has made 66 starts over the course of his career, so he shouldn't feel out of place starting the contest.

McAllister has allowed just one run in six appearances over 6.2 innings pitched during June.
EDGE Analysis
McAllister has seemingly been able to return to form after giving up seven runs over eight innings in May. He now has a 3.33 ERA to go along with a 1.40 WHIP and 25 strikeouts this season.

McAllister earned the loss, giving up three seventh-inning runs, against Baltimore on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
McAllister has now given up five earned runs in his last three outings, ballooning his ERA to 4.32 from 1.93. His poor performances are largely due to the number of hits he gives up as he's allowed at least two in eight of his 20 appearances this season. It's too soon to say if the 28-year-old's recent pitching woe's are worrisome but he'll want a couple bounce back outings to regain the form he had earlier in the season.

McAllister threw 1.1 innings against Seattle on Thursday, allowing a hit and no runs.
EDGE Analysis
McAllister is a bright spot in a bullpen that has struggled this year so far, as he is yet to allow a run this season in six total innings of work. More impressive than that is his 0.50 WHIP and 3.0 K/BB, which signals that his lack of runs allowed isn't merely a fluke.

McAllister (illness) is scheduled to throw Wednesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McAllister missed time earlier in the month with a severe case of the flu, but he'll be back on a mound Wednesday for the first time since the illness. He may require a few days to get back up to speed, but McAllister should have no trouble working back to full strength before Opening Day.

McAllister (flu) was back in spring training Wednesday and hopes to get in a full workout Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The Indians want to stretch McAllister out to be able to throw three innings this spring and that's still in the cards but he remains a long shot to open the season in the rotation and appears set to fill a long-relief role for the Indians.

McAllister, who has been sidelined since Sunday with the flu-like symptoms, remained out of action Monday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Indians had planned on stretching McAllister out early in camp as a fallback plan for a possible rotation spot but those plans may have been scuttled before they even got off the ground due to illness. He'll need to get back healthy and up to speed quickly.

McAllister will be stretched out at the start of spring training in order to allow him to compete for a spot in the Cleveland starting rotation, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. "We're not telling him he can't start," manager Terry Francona said. "But from where we are now, it looks like he's probably a better weapon in the bullpen. That can change."
EDGE Analysis
McAllister fared much better in a relief role last season, posting a 2.49 ETA with 79 strikeouts in 65 innings out of the bullpen and the Indians have plenty of arms competing for the fifth spot with Josh Tomlin, Cody Anderson and TJ House. This may be more of a backup plan should Trevor Bauer stumble this spring but McAllister could emerge as a starting candidate if things break right.
