Yorvit Torrealba started Friday for the first time since September 10. Not surprisingly, the Rangers have been riding the red-hot bat of Mike Napoli, who leads the AL in OBP (.469) since the All-Star break. Napoli will likely be back in the lineup Saturday and will surely be the regular down the stretch and in the playoffs, though manager Ron Washington refused to confirm as much. "There's no issue here," Washington said. "Right now, Nap is swinging a hot bat, and I'm going to ride that hot bat. I'm going to get Torre his games, but how I'm going to decide it is hard to say. We need both of them."

Yorvit Torrealba will serve as the designated hitter in Friday's game against the Indians. Rangers manager Ron Washington has the luxury of using Torrealba at DH with Taylor Teagarden available as a third catcher off the bench. Of course, Torrealba is very familiar with Friday's starter Ubaldo Jimenez during their time together in Colorado.

Yorvit Torrelaba will serve as the designated hitter Friday against the Blue Jays. This is his first start at DH since June 14, 2005. The move gives the Rangers seven right-handed hitters in the lineup Friday against left-hander Brett Cecil. It also gives Torrealba a bit of a break, as he has caught the last three games. Mike Napoli will start behind the dish Friday while Taylor Teagarden is available off the bench as the third catcher.

Yorvit Torrealba has batted .462 (18-for-39) in 12 games since Scott Coolbaugh took over as hitting coach. "It's working so far," Torrealba said. "He makes a lot of stuff simple. He doesn't try to do anything different than what we need today. We're staying with the same program I've had for however many years I've been playing, but we're just trying to do it consistently." Torrealba is now hitting .267/.300/.374 with three homers on the year after his recent hot streak.

FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal report that the Giants "remain focused on acquiring a catcher," with the Rangers' Yorvit Torrealba becoming a target. A former Giant, Torrealba won't be dealt by the Rangers until Mike Napoli comes off the disabled list, but they could consider it then. A big stumbling block, though, is the $3.25 million he's due next season, which the Giants don't want to pay with Buster Posey presumably back healthy then. Morosi and Rosenthal see Guillermo Mota as a possible fit for the Rangers in return. The the Nationals' Pudge Rodriguez, the Mets' Ronny Paulino and the Reds' Ramon Hernandez have also been discussed by the Giants, but Torrealba appears to be the main target right now.

Yorvit Torrealba is out of the Rangers' lineup for the second straight day Tuesday. Torrealba left Sunday's game with dehydration, so it sounds like the Rangers are just being extra cautious with their starting catcher. Taylor Teagarden will get another start behind the dish Tuesday.

Yorvit Torrealba is not in Monday's lineup against the Astros. Torrealba was pulled from Sunday's game in the fourth inning due to dehydration, but was feeling much better Monday. Look for him to return to the lineup in the next day or so. Taylor Teagarden will start behind the plate Monday night and bat eighth against left-hander J.A. Happ.
