Orioles designated RHP Willie Eyre for assignment. He was cleared to make room for the newly-acquired Dana Eveland on the 40-man roster. Eyre, 33, posted a 3.44 ERA and 10/5 K/BB ratio over 18 1/3 innings. There's a pretty decent chance he'll pass through waivers unclaimed.

Orioles purchased the contract of RHP Willie Eyre from Triple-A Norfolk. As previously reported, Eyre is taking Chris Tillman's roster spot, and likely isn't long for the majors with Brian Matusz expected to be recalled to start on Tuesday. In 145 1/3 career major-league innings, Eyre has posted a 5.14 ERA and 1.59 WHIP.

RHP Willie Eyre is expected to take Chris Tillman's spot on the Orioles' 25-man roster. The move will likely only be temporary, as Brian Matusz is expected to take Tillman's place in the Orioles rotation. Signed just nine days ago, Eyre, 33, last appeared in the majors in 2009 as a member of the Rangers. He's posted a 3.31 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 65 1/3 Triple-A innings this season.

Willie Eyre has opted out of his minor league contract with the A's and is now a free agent. Eyre had a cool 3.48 ERA and 6.5 K/9 in 62 innings for Triple-A Sacramento. The 33-year-old will try to parlay that success into a big league roster spot.
