Indians recalled RHP Vinnie Pestano from Triple-A Columbus. Pestano, one of baseball's most underrated relievers over the last two years, has dealt with an elbow issue, diminished velocity, and prolonged struggles in 2013. He registered a 4.05 ERA and 1.53 ERA through 34 appearances before the Indians demoted him on July 31.

Indians optioned RHP Vinnie Pestano to Triple-A Columbus. An expected move, Marc Rzepczynski will take his place on the active roster. It wasn't too long ago that Pestano was one of the more underrated relievers in the game, but he has a 4.05 ERA and 1.53 ERA through 34 appearances this season. He'll attempt to get back on track in the minors.

MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports that Vinnie Pestano will be optioned to Triple-A. Pestano posted a 10.80 ERA in May, rebounded with a 2.08 ERA in June, but has struggled again to the tune of a 4.91 ERA in July. Indians manager Terry Francona removed Pestano from high-leverage situations, but it appears that Cleveland would prefer to do without him in low-leverage situations at the moment as well.

Indians manager Terry Francona has removed Vinnie Pestano from his eighth inning role. Pestano was knocked around in his most recent appearance on Sunday and hasn't been nearly as effective this season as he has been in the past, so Francona hopes that using him in lower-leverage situations will improve his confidence. Joe Smith will serve as the main set-up man for closer Chris Perez for now.

Vinnie Pestano worked a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his fifth save of the season on Wednesday. Pestano set down the Orioles in order in the ninth, striking out two in the outing. Despite his shakiness at times, the right-hander has now notched five saves without blowing an opportunity in Chris Perez's stead. With Perez primed to rejoin the team on Thursday it will be interesting to see how Indians manager Terry Francona handles the ninth inning, but we're expecting Perez to inherit his old job upon return.

Vinnie Pestano pitched a scoreless ninth Monday against the Orioles for his fourth save. This one wasn't quite so hairy as Saturday's, when Pestano gave up two runs before escaping with a save, but he did give up a walk and a single with two outs to bring the tying run to the plate in a 5-2 game. He then got Manny Machado to line out to end it. Pestano's run in the closer's role will likely end soon with Chris Perez on the way back.

Vinnie Pestano allowed two runs but picked up his third save of the season on Saturday. Pestano didn't inspire a ton of confidence, as he allowed a leadoff double to Justin Morneau and later gave up a solo home run to Chris Parmelee, but he got Josh Willingham to strike out with the tying run on first to end the game. It's not as though the Indians are rife with better options currently, but Pestano's high-wire act may wear out its welcome soon.

Vinnie Pestano got through a tumultuous ninth inning to pick up his second save of the season on Tuesday as the Indians beat the Royals 4-3. Pestano managed the rare feat of allowing three hits and a walk while throwing a scoreless inning, as the Royals' baserunning miscues aided the cause. With Chris Perez working his way back Pestano's days closing games could be numbered, but Perez is no sure thing to be effective upon returning. The situation is worth monitoring in the days following Perez's activation.

Vinnie Pestano recorded his first save of the season Sunday, tossing a scoreless inning in a win over the Nationals. It was Pestano's first save chance since he took over the ninth inning for the injured Chris Perez three weeks ago. Unfortunately for his fantasy owners, Perez is due back this week. Still, Pestano is worth hanging onto.

Vinnie Pestano tossed a scoreless ninth inning Saturday for his first save of the season. he fill-in closer while Chris Perez (shoulder) is on the disabled list, Pestano worked out around a two-out walk to notch the save. He has shown better velocity in his past two outings, which is a good sign after his recent elbow issue. Make sure to pick him up if he's still available in your league.
