Hunter fell to 3-2 on the season after allowing the winning run in the eighth inning of Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox. He threw one innings, giving up a run on two hits, including one homer, while striking out one.
EDGE Analysis
Hunter was called upon to keep the game tied in the eighth inning, facing Boston's eighth, ninth and leadoff spots. In the end, it was the ninth slot that did the damage, in the form of a pinch-hit homer by Brock Holt. Hunter hasn't been terrible by any means this season, but he hasn't been what the Phillies hoped for when they signed him to a two-year, $18-million contract in December. He's been used in the third-highest leverage situations among Phillies relievers this year, but his mediocre 4.00 is fifth-best in the Phillies' pen, leaving him poorly positioned to move into a more significant role.

Hunter tossed a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit and striking out one as he notched the save Sunday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Hunter gave up a two-out single, but he managed to secure his second save of the season by retiring the final batter of the ballgame. Since being tagged with the loss July 28 against Cincinnati, he's pieced together four scoreless innings and he continues to be used in high leverage situations. Hunter owns a 4.17 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 35 strikeouts over 41 frames this season.

Hunter took his second blown save of the season after allowing one run on two hits Monday against the Dodgers, striking out a pair in two innings.
EDGE Analysis
Hunter wasn't being asked to get the save, but blowing the lead in a close and late situation gives him a blown save nonetheless. He entered with a one-run lead in the seventh and couldn't keep the score that way, allowing Manny Machado to triple and score on a Max Muncy sacrifice fly. He stuck around in the eighth inning and managed to keep the score tied, giving him a respectable enough outing overall. Hunter's 4.50 ERA through 34 innings isn't particularly good for a late-inning reliever, but his underlying numbers (a 22.0 percent strikeout rate and a 4.7 percent walk rate) are solid. Assuming the Phillies trust that his results will eventually align with his performances, Hunter should remain in a high-leverage role and will be one of a small handful of candidates ready to step up should anything happen to top reliever Seranthony Dominguez.

Hunter got just one out and allowed a pair of runs on a pair of hits in Thursday's win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Hunter entered the top of the ninth with a three-run lead and got into trouble right away. He allowed a single and a double to start the inning but was bailed out by Seranthony Dominguez after recording just one out. Hunter's ERA now sits at 5.09 for the season, not at all the result the Phillies were hoping for when they signed him to a two-year, $18-million contract this past offseason. His underlying numbers look fine, though, as his excellent 2.9 percent walk rate is more than enough to make up for a mediocre 20.2 percent strikeout rate, especially when combined with an above-average groundball rate (51.9 percent, a career high). Hunter's FIP stands at just 2.36, suggesting that with a little positive regression he could end up deserving his important role in the Phillies' bullpen.

Hunter retired the only batter he faced to earn his first save of the season Sunday against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Luis Garcia started the ninth, but he allowed a single and a double to put the winning run in scoring position. On came Hunter, who got Christian Yelich to close out the threat. The Philadelphia bullpen is no sure thing these days, but Hunter doesn't appear first in line for saves, with the likes of Garcia, Seranthony Dominguez and Edubray Ramos in the picture.

Hunter earned a hold but allowed a run on two hits and a walk in just two thirds of an innings Sunday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Hunter was a key part of the bullpen implosion which turned a three-run lead into a walkoff loss. He entered the game with one out and a man on first in a 4-1 game in the bottom of the eighth. He did manage to strike out two tough lefties in Bryce Harper and Matt Adams, but a walk and two singles allowed a pair of runs to score before he got out of the inning. His ERA now sits at 4.26 through seven appearances since returning from a hamstring strain. Hunter could be next in line should closer Hector Neris slump or get injured, but he isn't staking a particularly impressive claim so far this season.

Hunter (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Hunter will rejoin the Phillies' bullpen after missing the start of the season with a Grade 1 hamstring strain. The 31-year-old will be a welcomed addition to the team's relief corp, as he posted a solid 2.61 ERA and 21.9 percent K-BB% with the Rays last season. Hoby Milner was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday to make room for Hunter's activation.

Hunter (hamstring) is scheduled to make a minor-league rehab appearance with Double-A Reading on Friday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hunter, who has been sidelined all season with a hamstring injury, is inching closer to making his 2018 big-league debut. The reliever reportedly felt fine after making a rehab appearance for High-A Clearwater on Tuesday, clearing the way for him to make his next rehab outing with the Fighting Phils. If all goes well in Friday's rehab appearance, Hunter could rejoin the big club sometime over the weekend.

Hunter (hamstring) is expected to appear in additional rehab games before being activated from the disabled list, Matt Gelb of The Athletic Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hunter has already thrown in an extended spring training game and is slated to pitch at High-A Clearwater on Tuesday. However, manager Gabe Kapler indicated that Hunter will likely need to appear in at least one more rehab game before coming off the DL. Because of this, Hunter seems to be on track to be activated at some point next week.

Hunter (hamstring) will throw a rehab appearance for High-A Clearwater on Tuesday, the Phillies' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hunter has yet to debut for the Phillies after signing as a free agent in the offseason. He suffered a hamstring strain at the end of spring training but is nearing a return to Philadelphia. He threw Saturday in an extended spring game and will throw again in a minor-league game Tuesday, after which he could be ready to rejoin the big-league club. The 31-year-old has mediocre numbers over the course of his 10-year major-league career, recording a 4.13 ERA with a 15.9 percent strikeout rate. Last year, though, his strikeout rate spiked up to 28.1 percent while his ERA dropped to 2.61, leading the Phillies to sign him for a prominent role in their bullpen.
