Miller allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out three over 2.2 innings Monday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Miller, who is working his way back from Tommy John elbow surgery, went as long as his 50-pitch count would take him. "I was in better counts for the most part today compared to the last start when I was falling behind more than you're taught to do. So my main goal today was getting ahead in counts. I still need to get the ball down and on the corners a little better," Miller told T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com. The 28-year-old right-hander should get another three starts before the regular season, giving him just enough time to ramp up to 80-90 pitches and five innings.

Miller allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out two over 1.2 innings Wednesday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Miller had trouble locating his pitches Wednesday and allowed six of the 10 batters faced to reach base. This was his second spring start after being limited to nine appearances over the last two years due Tommy John elbow surgery and the aftereffects of that procedure. The Rangers don't have much starting pitching depth, so Miller is expected to be part of the rotation when the regular season kicks off.

Miller allowed two runs on two hits and one walk over one inning in Friday's game against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Miller was the last of the Rangers' three Tommy John survivors to make his spring debut. At this stage, results aren't as important as getting in the work and feeling good afterwards. "I felt strong," the 28-year-old right-hander told Dave Sessions of MLB.com. "I felt like I threw all my pitches, which is a positive. I was in the zone a lot, which was good. The location was pretty good. The only one I kind of missed was on the triple, I kind of yanked it back over the middle, but other than that I was pretty pleased with the outcome." According to Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News, Miller's fastball started at 90 mph and elevated to 93 during the outing. Fourteen of his 19 pitches found the strike zone. He joins Drew Smyly and Edinson Volquez as projected rotation members coming back from elbow surgery.

Miller signed a one-year contract with the Rangers on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Miller spent most of the 2018 season recovering from Tommy John surgery, making just five appearances (four starts) and struggling to a 10.69 ERA and 2.00 WHIP across 16 innings before being non-tendered by the Diamondbacks in the offseason. Despite his struggles over the past three seasons (5-18 record, 6.35 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 109:62 K:BB across 139 innings), Miller figures to get a chance to start in Texas, which could make him worth a late-round flier.

The Diamondbacks declined to tender Miller a contract for the 2019 season.
EDGE Analysis
Miller made $4.9 million in 2018 after winning his arbitration hearing prior to the season. He wound up starting just four games since he spent most of the year recovering from Tommy John surgery that he underwent last May. Miller's last "full" season was his first with Arizona in 2017, during which he logged a 6.15 ERA and 1.67 WHIP across 101 innings of work. He will now hit the open market and look to rejuvenate his career in a new home.

Miller (elbow) tossed a scoreless inning in relief in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Miller faced the minimum in the 16-pitch appearance, working around a leadoff walk to generate a double-play grounder and a fly out to escape the frame unscathed. The 27-year-old was making his first appearance since July 11 after right elbow inflammation once looked like it would prevent him from returning at any point in 2018. While Miller ran out of time to build up to a starter's workload, he'll likely be in the mix for a rotation spot next spring after finishing the campaign with his health intact. It's uncertain if he'll be vying for a starting role with Arizona, however, as the Diamondbacks could choose to non-tender him this winter in light of his shaky health and underwhelming numbers during his three years in the desert.

Miller (elbow) was activated from the 60-day disabled list Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Miller hasn't pitched since before the All-Star break while battling elbow inflammation. He's made just four starts for Arizona this year, allowing 21 runs (19 earned) in 15 innings. Christian Walker was placed on the 60-day disabled list with a facial fracture in a corresponding move.

Miller (elbow) is scheduled to throw a 60-pitch simulated game Tuesday, Jack Magruder of The Sports Xchange reports.
EDGE Analysis
Miller has been sidelined since the All-Star break with inflammation in his elbow, but he appears to be on the cusp of a return. If all goes well during the right-hander's simulated outing, he could be cleared to rejoin the Diamondbacks ahead of their three-game series against the Padres that begins Friday.

Miller (elbow) threw a second bullpen session Tuesday and is scheduled to throw off a mound again later in the week, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo observed several of Miller's pitches and said the right-hander looked "very, very good." While Miller seems to be nearing a full recovery from the elbow inflammation that has sidelined him since the All-Star break, he'll still have to face hitters in live batting practice and/or simulated-game situations before a return to big-league action is considered. With only a week and a half left in the season, it seems rather unlikely that Miller will pitch again for the Diamondbacks in 2018.

Miller (elbow) threw a 27-pitch bullpen session Saturday, the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Miller "felt good" during the session, but it's unclear if the right-hander has enough time left to make an appearance before the regular season ends Sept. 30. If Miller is activated from the 60-day disabled list in the next two weeks, he'll be ticketed for a bullpen role since he won't be ready to handle a starter's workload.
