Freeman's contract was purchased from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. He has a 1.13 ERA in eight innings at Round Rock this year, but he also has walked six batters over that span, so his command is pretty shaky. Look for him to offer bullpen help in low-leverage situations.

Freeman was assigned outright to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Stefan Stevenson reports. He passed through waivers and will now serve as organizational depth at Triple-A.

The Rangers designated Freeman for assignment, the Dallas Morning News reports. The Rangers, who just acquired Freeman from the Cardinals, will hope to sneak him through waivers.

Freeman was left off of the Cardinals' NLCS roster, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports. Catcher A.J. Pierzynski will assume Freeman's roster spot in the only change from the NLDS roster to the NLCS. Freeman only got one appearance in the NLDS against the Dodgers, failing to record an out and walking the only two batters he faced.
